Zizou is in the United States!
Don’t get too excited as he is not getting ready to sign for FC Dallas…..but the great one will be showing up at tonite’s Superclassico when the LA Galaxy take on Chivas USA…
I read the new book the “Beckham Experiment” on the flight from New York to Seattle that I took yesterday and how ironic is it that Beckham himself returns to the U.S. today and will practice and train on Monday and be ready to go next weekend at New York.
So what do you think will occur on “another” return to MLS from David Beckham.
It should be interesting based on the new book and the large differences Beckham and Landon Donovan had last go round with the squad.
Jozy Altidore is expected to move to Olympiakos of Greece in search of first team football on loan from Villareal according to goal.com
Altidore scored vs. Spain in the recent U.S upset of the world’s number one team and is 19 years of age….
DYNAMO AT SEATTLE
Lets talk about players missing and player opportunity. That is what it is about today at Qwest Field.
With the core of the Dynamo missing today will be opportunity for some less experienced players.
Expect Julius James and Mike Chabala to be in a lineup that will look different.
It is amazing how many miles and games the Dynamo are in the midst of but that is the trappings of success when you factor in the Open Cup.
Nate Jacqua and Patrick Ianni are expected to start today at Qwest Field at 3pm CST so catch it on KHOU 11.2
The trio of Freddy Montero, Freddy Ljunberg and Nate Jacqua are dangerous and if you throw in Steve Zakuani (probable) and Sanna Nyassi you have a blend of players that bring mobility and game changing ability. They feed off the crowd’s energy as well so the Dynamo will need a great day of possession, intelligent play and new levels of performance individually from some thrown in the mix. A great day to find out about yourselves and some players that will get further opportunity.
Keep a particular eye on James who was a starter at the beginning of the year.
So that time of the year in MLS is here and players like Mike Chabala and Cory Ashe have been contributing. Lots stacked against the Dynamo tonite but to pull off a result in this environment would be a huge confidence builder!!!
What are your thoughts on today’s game?

Hi Glenn,
Didn’t Oliver Luck state he would have news about the stadium soon
(as in last month, if I recall correctly)?
If I win the lottery this weekend, I’ll just give’em the 20 million ; )
Dy-na-moooooooooooo!
Glenn, congrats on the Fox Houston show. As much as I love the Dynamo, I liked the Soccer Report on 55 because it covered the Dynamo plus others and had good segments and interviews that you don’t get elsewhere.
Beckham should have been banned from even entering an MLS Stadium for the stuff he has pulled against our football. Wonder if Becks will even bother showing up to Robertson considering that he hasn’t come to Houston. A lot of USMNT fans may hate Blanco but hate him or love him, he has done more to improve the MLS than Beckham has and he didn’t give the Fire half as many problems as Becks gave to Galaxy. What friction occurred between Becks and Lando? I read on the LA Galaxy website (i know…sorry for visiting it…) that they were going to meet up today to discuss their differences…any back info on the subject Senor Glenn? I know I have said this before but here it goes again… I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE FREAKING SHOW!!!!!!! You should really have like a mail-in segment in which you and a person whom you are interviewing gets the honor of answering our q’s…I love the Sounders I followed them when they were in USL but of course not as much as the Dynamo but you can bet your lucky penny that I will catch this game on the old picture tube today…nice little activity to do before the USMNT game…I wil also be going to the Sounders game here in Houston…well enough of my babbling…
Great and Honest Commentating on today’s game, Glenn!!! I honestly felt we could have won if that horrible goal call hadn’t of taken place…eh…can’t win them all i guess…
Glenn, You were being more than charitable saying the first Sounder goal was too close to call. The replay from behind the right goalpost showed the entire ball in front of the post (which is lined up with the goal line)…and that’s with the camera BEHIND the post.
As you know, it doesn’t matter whether 99% of the ball crosses the line; and with the camera behind the post it looks like not even 1% of it crossed the line. That’s a rookie mistake by the AR who made the amateurish move of making a call from a bad position. 1 point lost (3 points net, since Seattle is a Western Conference opponent and got all 3) on that one call.
Hopefully we beat them in the Open Cup match, then when we face them in Houston we can let the ball touch the goal line a few times to get the win.
Okay Glenn, you read the book and…….how is it? Is it as fascinating or not? Should we get copies? Maybe we can hear more from the author (he could be a great interview for the radio and/or tv show).
Classless draw by the US! Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahhahahaha a draw against Haiti! Hahahahahahhahaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Go Mexico! Mexico! Good goal by Holden though…but still just because I get burned here online by the Anti-Tri people hahahhaahahahahahahahahahhaahhahahahahahahahahahaha!
Don’t laugh too much, Leo…Guadeloupe will show “el tri” what soccer is
all about tomorrow : )
On more important matters, how about that Dynamo Stadium, Glenn?
That goal by Holden was pure golazo. Powerful, and couldn’t be more dramatic in its timing. I’m not worried about tying Haiti given the newbies who were on the field (including Heaps??)
And Holden’s shot on goal in the first half has been declared a goal by the Seattle AR.
I just had that building up inside…..you don’t think I fear Guadalope….hell even the US should fear them….best team of tourney so far….and how about that Stadium!
M,
Without the definitive camera angle you can’t be conclusive on television! I have been burnt by camera angles before and although from those angles it looks as though it was kicked off the line.
Didn’t have anything to do with being charitable as a broadcaster with that angle it is tough.
If we had 15 camera on the game like the Epl we would have had something definitive.
Glenn,
I agree that the camera angles were tough. The only conclusive angle was the one to the right and behind the right goal post (one of the last replays shown on your broadcast). Since you can see the ball to the right (i.e. in front) of the near goalpost, and the camera is slightly behind the goalpost, there is no way the ball could have completely crossed the goalpost threshold/goal line. If the camera were even with the goal line, it would prove the ball didn’t cross, and since the camera was behind the goal line, it’s even more definitive. That’s the only conclusive angle, and it is quite inarguable.
I have no idea why the AR would assume that 100% of the ball crossed the goal line, given his angle as he rushed down the touchline on the far side of the field. Particularly since Chabala’s left foot was still in bounds, so it would be a tough call to make even from a good angle. I’m not claiming “conspiracy” by the official, just incompetence.
Of course the argument could be that the Dynamo should’ve scored again to make the bad call moot. Or maybe we could have forced Seattle to make a brilliant, athletic save off the line and see if the officials mocked their achievement like they mocked Chabala’s
Wow, this could get interesting. Beckham basically questioning Donovan’s criticism in the press? http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660348&sec=mls&cc=5901. DB, you are questioning Donovan’s professionalism? You just did the same thing. I think Donovan was right on the money and Beckham would love not to have to put on a Galaxy shirt ever again. DB’s interview with FSC tonight was terrible and you could tell DB had no connection to the team. He called Bruce “the manager.”
I think LD calling out DB in an interview was not a good move at all. As a leader, you have to go to someone one on one and address this. LD admitted his mistake and hopefully these guys can at least have a discussion but I don’t even think DB will even be in the same room with LD ever again.
My prediction is that DB will hold a grudge over this for the rest of his time with the Galaxy and LD and DB will never talk again. They will play with each other but they won’t talk to each other. Beckham’s ego and god complex will never be able to take criticism.
Beckham will be out of the Galaxy team after the season is over.
Glenn, Orlando here from Rosewood. Just wanted to stop by and thank you for those tickets you bless me with. If you ever need anything dont heasetatet on letting me know. Thanks again. Your The Man. -Orlando MarTinez
