  1. Brian says:

I\’ve read a lot about Bob Bradley\’s interim status, and the impressiveness of the 3-0 record. Although I applaud the MNT results to date, and I do think he is the man for the job, we still could use some *away* matches and results before the doubts are put to rest. Can he beat Mexico at Azteca Stadium? Ecuador in Quito? Denmark at home? Also, how about scheduling some top 20 teams? I\’d like to see us play Ghana again, as well as Czech Republic, Romania, France.

  2. Glenn Davis says:

I agree Brian but Mexico is not going to do friendlies in Azteca and give the US an opportunity to learn more about the conditions and environment.
Or give them an opportunity to play there more so as to become more amiable to the conditions.
Besides Soccer United Marketing has contracted the Mexican National team and most their games are played here in the U.S.
I would love to see more games against different opponents like you want .

  3. Simon says:

Yup, and the other thing to keep in mind is many European teams still don\\\’t consider the US a proper opponent when preparing for European Champs play. It\\\’s not so much a lack of disrespect, but the US style of play does not mirror many of those displayed by European teams, therefore there\\\’s not much value in the Europeans playing the US.

Like Glenn, I share your sentiments, but much of it is actually our of the USSF hands.

I\\\’m sure Bob would love to play against a top 20 team every game, but the fact of the matter is, they don\\\’t necessarily want to play us.

And there is a flip-side as well. Since winning the Gold Cup and qualifing for the World Cup are the top priorities, the first statement works here in a vice-versa paradigm. Not many European teams reflect the style of play the Latin American and Carribean teams display.

Nevertheless, I think it would do the team good to travel to more places and get that away match experience. That is experience that you can\\\’t teach, you must, well, experience! (And just for the record, I realize you didn\\\’t specifically say European teams, but most of the top 20 teams are from Europe).
