Up in Frisco, TX we got a glimpse of Concacaf Olympic qualifying with a “friendly” between the United States and Mexico.
The U.S. would get a 2-0 win behind goals from Juan Agudelo and Freddy Adu.
The U.S. on the night were the better team though were fortunate to not have a penalty called against them on two occasions when Kofi Sarkodie and Zarek Valentin grabbed Mexican players from behind .
Mix Diskerud was impressive in his central midfield role keeping the balance of the team right and being very useful with the ball. Joe Corona also in midfield impressed
The U.S. are athletic at the back though a bit raw with Dynamo Kofi Sarkodie going the full 90 minutes on the right side but had difficulty getting into the attack.
All in all a solid win for head coach Caleb Porter with alot to build on.
Dynamo 1 Montreal 1
This match left alot to be desired but the Dynamo improved their performance in the 2nd half against Montreal and produced a good goal as Colin Clark delivery found Will Bruin for a header. Bruin seems to be staking out his place as a first choice striker in pre-season.
Colombia 2 vs. Mexico 0
Colombia got a game winner from Radamel Falcao and a second from Cuadro in front of a large crowd in Miami.
Netherlands 3 England 2
England tied things up late only to see the celebration quelled quickly as man of the match Arjen Robben produced a late game winner. Robben also produced a stunning goal after a 55 yard run on the ball that began in his own half.
