Up in Frisco, TX we got a glimpse of Concacaf Olympic qualifying with a “friendly” between the United States and Mexico.
The U.S. would get a 2-0 win behind goals from Juan Agudelo and Freddy Adu.
The U.S. on the night were the better team though were fortunate to not have a penalty called against them on two occasions when Kofi Sarkodie and Zarek Valentin grabbed Mexican players from behind .

Mix Diskerud was impressive in his central midfield role keeping the balance of the team right and being very useful with the ball. Joe Corona also in midfield impressed
The U.S. are athletic at the back though a bit raw with Dynamo Kofi Sarkodie going the full 90 minutes on the right side but had difficulty getting into the attack.
All in all a solid win for head coach Caleb Porter with alot to build on.

Dynamo 1 Montreal 1
This match left alot to be desired but the Dynamo improved their performance in the 2nd half against Montreal and produced a good goal as Colin Clark delivery found Will Bruin for a header. Bruin seems to be staking out his place as a first choice striker in pre-season.

Colombia got a game winner from Radamel Falcao and a second from Cuadro in front of a large crowd in Miami.

Netherlands 3 England 2
England tied things up late only to see the celebration quelled quickly as man of the match Arjen Robben produced a late game winner. Robben also produced a stunning goal after a 55 yard run on the ball that began in his own half.

I agree with u. Mexico should have been on the line at least once. Never a good sign when the center ref tell your bench players to sit on the bench. USA did not begin to lose some steam until the second half. Mexico did not have a Santos with this group. A goal might have helped them but it was a USA night. I thought the u 23 side was a little weak up the middle.

Some positive players to focus in on with this squad, lots of athletic ability at the back but still the area of focus in my opinion.

Gotta fix the left back problem like usual. Zarek Valentin is not a lefty and he’s sort of a question mark because he used to play right back for the U-20s but also played Center Back for Chivas USA last year????

I think Kitchen is not that great of a CB although he didn’t do bad in this game, but I saw him in Guatemala at the Concacaf U-20 Championships last year and he was the one that a goalkeeper long ball bounced over for Guatemala’s 2nd goal that took the US out of the U-20 World Cup. I think Gale Agbossoumonde will have a shot at the starting role there. I’d also like to see Greg Garza play the Left Back spot, he actually did great with the U-20s before they moved him to the front wing when Bobby Wood went down in that U-20 championships. He plays for Tijuana with Joe Corona in Mexico and was on the bench yesterday. There’s also a couple of guys out of Tigres that are in the reserves but play in Mexico’s 2nd level all the time and are young and gifted technically.

Sarkodie needs to keep fighting to get minutes from Dom Kinnear, which I know is hard but I hope he uses him more, even if it’s as a Right mid late in games to keep him hungry. Cameron could miss time and so will Hainault so that could open the door for Sarkodie but then again he might be with the U-23s by then…..hoping that he gets a start in late may or two when Cameron and Hainault have good chances at getting called up for the US vs Canada.
