U.S. on Espn tonight in opening qualifier/ European Championship begins

Get ready for the ride this summer of international soccer.

Two years of World Cup qualifying begins for the United States tonight at 6 central time when they host cinderella story Antigua and Barbuda in the semi-final round of World Cup qualifying.
I am in Tampa calling this game with Taylor Twellman from Raymond James Stadium.

COULD CAMERON GET START?
This is a good question because both left backs used by Jurgen Klinsmann are out injured. Both Fabian Johnson and Edgar Castillo have muscle injuries which might leave the door open for Geoff Cameron, Oguchi Onyewu to move into the middle pushing Carlos Bocanegra wide.
Michael Parkhurst could also play outside back.

The U.S. backline continues to be a point of contention with Bocanegra, Onyewu, Clarence Goodson, Steve Cherundolo all 30 years of age or older with a World Cup two years away.

Mexico starts their qualifying against Guyana.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO GO SO SET DVR

The European Championships kick off today in Poland/Ukraine.

Russia v. Czech Republic from Wroclaw at 1:30 cst

My picks to advance:

Group A: Poland, Russia
Group B: Germany, Netherlands
Group C: Spain, Italy
Group D: France, England

Come on, Glenn. I can’t believe you’re picking Poland over my Czech team. Wroclaw is just over the border, and they will have strong support. In recent years, the Czechs have had high expectations but always come up short. This year, expectations are low, so they are going to surprise everyone. Still have the best keeper in the world. Cesi, do toho!

Agree with your other picks except Croatia will go through over Italy. Germany over Spain in the final, but I have a feeling England will do very well.

Glenn, Do you know if there be anywhere in Houston showing the USA v Guatemala match on the 12th?

    Thanks,

    Shawn
