A missed opportunity to pick up points this week makes one wonder if Chelsea can catch Manchester United in the Premier League.
Huge questions abound for Jose Mourinho the head coach who now finds himself in the press trying to defend himself in trying to acquire depth in central defense with the injury to spiritual leader John Terry.
Mourinho is making it clear he will not over-spend on a defender. Reality is in order to find one of caliber he will have to.
It is not a buyers market for Mourinho and Chelsea, not a great position to be in when purchasing players…..desperation.
Yet they have a history of over-paying players so why not just do it one more time Roman in acquiring a defender?
Terry’s injury has shown just how valuable he is to the ‘Blues’….without him they have looked vulnerable in the air in the box and seem to have lost the ‘glue’ that binds Chelsea together.
Many like to talk about team over individuals but rare individuals like Terry are only missed more when they are gone.
Just think Roy Keane at Man Utd and how long it took to absorb his loss or at Arsenal Patrick Viera.
Andri Shevechenko and Michael Ballack have been far from successful signings reminding us the difficulty of adjusting to different leagues in Europe.
