Top thoughts of the day include Klose, Dynamo set-up, Kick Cancer, and the return of players

Here are a few soccer thoughts on my mind for today.

1.) KLOSE ADMITS HANDLING BALL ON GOAL
How is this for a rarity in sport. Lazio may have lost 3-0 to Napoli and an Edison Cavani hat trick but one must go back to what may have been a game changing moment concerning the first goal of the match.
Lazio actually got it. Or they thought they did until Lazio striker Miroslav Klose admitted to using his hand. The moment occurred only 4 minutes into the match.
Klose admitted to the handball from the referee Luca Banti and the goal was reversed.
Napoli players then patted the player on the back for his honesty.
Now I am going to take the high road and say he was going to admit it but the pressure from players and video may have played a part.

2.) SCOUTING OLIMPIA
The final Dynamo opponent in Concacaf Champions League for the Dynamo will be Olimpia of Honduras whom they drew in Central America. With a win the Dynamo will have won the group stage.
Olimpia plays FAS of El Salvador tonight on Univision at 9 central.

5.) COMEBACK TIME
Wayne Rooney is set to return for Manchester United, Kaka of Real Madrid is now being considered as a first team player again for the “Galacticos”. Kaka had been linked to a Turkish transfer to Galatasaray.
Remember Jack Wilshere? He is finally back playing after 14 months out.

6.) TACTICAL SET UP THE ANSWER FOR DYNAMO?
Whether the starting point is a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 remember the reasons why the change was made.
The Dynamo had been stagnant in the 4-4-2 and struggling in midfield to protect their back four and conceded 7 goals in two games against Toronto and Montreal.
Prior to that game FC Dallas was running through their midfield at home in a 2-1 win. The reality was in four games they conceded 12 goals and the back four was not protected.
Dom Kinnear went to a 4-3-3 to then provide a three set in central midfield to protect his center backs and the central area of his team.
This coincided nicely with the arrival of Oscar Boniek Garcia and the team then went on a 6-0-2 run.
Some individuals benefitted in this system better than others. It initially showcased Mac Kandji and Calen Carr and likely changed the game and confidence of Will Bruin who many times played as a lone striker as the system would morph into a 4-5-1.
Is it systems or player performance? Right now I point to individual play simple because of all the unforced errors and poor decisions vs. Philly .
A move back to the simplicity of a 4-4-2 could pay benefits if the industry of the Dynamo midfield is there.
The club must platform at this critical time, panic is not in order but inspiration is needed at this point and being at home could play a part in this.

6.) SOCCER TALK ON THE RADIO
Some have asked me about SOCCER MATTERS and where it went on Sports Talk 790.
I assure you that it will be back in November on another station in Houston at a 7pm time slot. I am truly excited about this and IRONMAN SPORTS MED. will remain the title sponsor.
Be patient as it will be worth it!!! Remember that you have grown the sport on the radio with your listenership and passion!
