Bob Bradley the head coach of the U.S. Mens National team passed on these thoughts about the upcoming game against Mexico this Wednesday. Bradley’s MLS based squad pales in comparison from the standpoint of experience to a Mexican squad that includes European based players like Rafael Marquez of Barcelona and Pavel Pardo of Stuttgart.
How is this camp and preparation different with Mexico as the opponent?
Bradley: It’s not different at all in the sense that we are still getting to know these players and trying to develop an understanding of how we want to work together as a group everyday. This isn’t about one game; it’s about building a foundation for the future. The camp has gone very well so far, and we are going to keep moving forward in our preparations for Mexico.”
Importance of Landon Donovan and Pablo Maestroeni to lead the team this Wednesday?
“I think it is very important that the players on this team with a lot of experience-guys like Landon and Pablo-help instill in the younger players the right attitude and the right approach to playing for the national team. On the field it will be critical that they demonstrate that type of leadership, particularly when you play in a game like a Mexico game where the level and intensity is that much greater.”
