SPAIN but on a great performance this afternoon crushing RUSSIA to advance to the EURO 2008 final this Sunday against GERMANY.
I was truly disappointed in RUSSIA who seemed awed by the occasion and rarely threatened against a Spanish side that is running on all cyclinders.
Russia’s talented midfielder Andre Arashvin was hardly mentioned and effectively taken out of the game while Spain produced free-flowing soccer combined with some timely substitutions to leave no doubt in this one.
The Spanish back line also looked solid Puyol and Sergio Ramos and effectively may have answered questions about their liabilities. They held lone striker Roman Pavluchenko to only one chance. Your thoughts please on today’s semi-final?

Didn’t see the entire game, just up through the first goal, but Spain certainly dominated the play. They have a good chance in the final to, er, FINALLY win the Euro competition. They have played more consistently and a more beautiful style than the Germans. ¡Va España!
Glenn, I wish to comment on the Dynamo game last night. I was there at Robertson, the night was cool, there was a nice crowd and the play was very energetic. The header by Ching in the first half was a thing of beauty. From then on the team started coasting and we had the feeling it was a matter of time before Dallas would tie the game. Ching kept yelling for the ball around the box and was visibly annoyed various times becayse if errant passes. Holden was all over the field but we needed him to push forward. What the team lacks as far as I could tell is a playmeker like a point gaurd on a basketball team. His one duty is to pass the ball around and get the ball into the hands of the scorers. Blanco is probably one player I would call a playmaker. I see DeRo and Ching flying down the middle or on the wings calling for the ball but rarely does it reach them. Once in awhile you get a nice pass threaded through to them but that dosen’t happen very often. If we had a passer of that ilk, the Dynamo indeed would be fierce competitors. Still it was a fun game to watch and we enjoy ourselves emmensley.
