A few things on the soccer mind today as I wake up in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas:
1.) Dynamo at New York on NBCSN
How about another first for the “orange” who are currently the hottest team in MLS.
The Dynamo and Red Bull remain the only two teams that are undefeated at home. Could this be the night the Dynamo pick off a first road win by anyone at Red Bull Arena? Five straight wins, three straight shutouts, undefeated in eight games is a real run. New York though at home will be up for the challenge and the rumor that Thierry Henry was actually not in Houston and had a stunt double playing for him in the Dynamo 2-0 win does have real “legs”.
Dax McCarty returns in midfield for the Red Bulls while Rafa Marquez will likely be doing a personal appearance somewhere to earn his paycheck.
2.) U.S. womens national team to Houston
Winning gold means more celebration dates around the country for the Gold Medall winners to spread the love.
Why not Houston U.S. Soccer?
Lets talk about this Monday night on the radio show!!!
What a boost for the womens game this would be!
3.) Mexico without Gio Dos Santos v. Brazil en la manana
Mexico shot at gold has taken a heavy hit with Gio Dos Santos.
With Dos Santos in the lineup Mexico is a different team as we saw throughout the Olympic tournament.
With Gio that had a real shot of taking gold , without him him to quote Billy Crystal in Princess Bride “It will take a miracle”.
Seriously, I see Mexico competitive but without Dos Santos chances of winning gold have decreased.
Brazil aim for their first ever Gold Medal at Olympics.
4.) On the road Austin and LA
Fresh off the honor of calling Olympic games I am in Austin , Texas tonight for Longhorn Network and UT/Texas State who both play an exhibition game on tv.
Not bad and how times have changed in college soccer with televised games.
Sunday on to the SuperClassico to call LA and Chivas USA at Home Depot Center on Espn Sunday night at 10 cdt if you are interested in the late, late show.
All in all a great weekend and looking forward to seeing the Dynamo at New York.
Next Dynamo telecast locally is on the 19th when the Crew come to town at BBVA.
What is on your soccer mind?

Looks like new York learned something from way back when Don Nelson was coach of the Knicks. That “hack a Shaq” defense was used to kick Mac K. Off the park.
Glenn, how did you feel about new york’s “Hack a Mac” defense?
Kanji should’ve known that a target was on his back the way he exposed New York’s backline in when they played in Houston. If he didn’t know then Kinnear should’ve warned him. New York’s “Hack a Mac” defense worked and got Mac out of his game which is what they wanted. He needs to mature and focus on the game and on the team. Houston could’ve had an early goal had he chose to pass the ball to Bruin or Carr in the beginning of the match but he decided to punch it with his left into the side netting.
Also, how are the Dynamo going to let Tim Cahill get a header when out defense are all over 6 feet tall? Tim’s gotta be like 5’5″. I mean, really? And that last goal by New York looked offsides but at some point the linesmen are going to make the wrong call and since the they’re at home it’s going to work in their favor. I expect better from our guys on defense.
San Jose, Kansas City, and New York all won their games this past weekend pushing Houston’s further back in the standings. I am not a happy camper right now.
