My dvr will be set by the ORANGE are the priority this Sunday at home…..nothing beats live soccer!
I am wondering if anyone in the youth soccer community has re-scheduled games or have had the vision to help focus the attention of our youth community on this huge playoff game? Sadly I am not hearing much or many decisions being made from leadership. Then again maybe the youth community is not engaged about the importance of Sunday?
You tell me ?

Even the adult league my brother plays in had the sense to schedule all the games early in the morning. So that people can catch the game.
The Spring/Woodlands area look to be playing that day.
My problem is that I want to DVR lots of games.
The Dynamo game obviously, if we win, you know I will want to watch the game again, one of these days, they will show me on TV.
The Texans game.
The EPL game on FSC.
The La Liga game on ESPN Deportes.
I don´t think my wife will let me watch all those games Sunday night.
Glenn, you have been a true ambassador for soccer in Houston. I think this is a two way street. I truly believe the Dynamo have to start engaging these youth soccer organizations. Pro soccer in Houston is still very new and old habits are hard to break. The Dynamo need to be talking to youth soccer leaders around the city in December about the upcoming season and when important games are as well as when the playoffs and MLS Cup are going to be scheduled. We can tell youth soccer leaders that they need to change what they are doing but the Dynamo organization needs to be more engaged with these youth soccer programs. We don’t need just ticket reps talking to clubs about package deals but we need community relations people as well as people like Chris Cannetti and Oliver Luck establishing relationships.
The Dynamo need to understand that just because you have a game or give discounted tickets people won’t necessarily show up. Especially in these early years of the Dynamo as well as as being a sport that has to earn every fan that comes into the stadium.
Don’t get me wrong, this team is involved in the community more than any team but I think the front office needs to understand that they need to roll up their sleeves and build relationships with the youth soccer community leadership.
Ask FC Dallas how hard it is to get fans in their stadium. It is hard work especially when the new car smell wears off.
AMEN CJ -
I was saying much the same thing today myself. Along with the feel good, PR and grow the game aspect, there is also a business aspect. The Dynamo should be very active in supporting advertising for club tournaments and club fundraising events. I can’t say I have ever seen a Dynamo ad in a tournament booklet (except the tournament they sponsor). There was a time not so long ago when the Dynamo were at ever tournament and players made appearances at many camps. What happened to that grass roots effort? There are a lot of things the Dynamo do very well but the FO cannot forget how they got fans in the seats in the early years.
There seems to be a feeling that the Dynamo are now competitors of the local clubs because of the Academy. Maybe the Academy is a competitor but the Pro club is an asset for all. As CJ says someone needs to be building the relationships with the youth clubs and asking the question “how can we help you be successful?” & “What can we do to help you grow?” Local clubs need to see the Dynamo as a resource not someone with their hand out wanting to sell tickets. (Of course they want to sell tickets – that will come with being visible and adding value to local clubs – no one likes a hard sell)
A couple of years ago Zach Wells was helping coach our clubs goal keepers (not out of the kindness of his heart I’m sure but he wasn’t getting rich either) My son begged to go to games to see Zach warm up, other kids, and coaches were the same. Zach made friends at the club and we all wanted to support him so they went to games….Do you think members of Space City SC go down to Robertson to see Mike Chaballa play….you bet they do.
