How things are heating up in the west as we head into the stretch run!!!
With LA knocking off Chivas USA last night on a late David Beckham goal 1-0 things in the West are becoming extremely interesting. Now this leads me to today when the Dynamo take on Colorado at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. This game is huge for Colorado who blew a two goal lead last week at Chicago.
It will be interesting to see the mentality of Colorado today, conversely the Dynamo want to continue to be the standard bearers in the league and stave off a streaking LA Galaxy.
The Dynamo will look to continue to climb back to finding their total game today!

Key opponents: The Dynamo will need to control two strikers in Conor Casey and Omar Cummings. They are different….Casey more of a target type man and Cummings who does have a turn of speed on the larger surface in Colorado.

EPL

Chelsea to me looks the best team so far in England and produced a 3-0 win yesterday over Burnley….Are Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka feeling it or what? Incidentally Michael Ballack turns into a center forward as powered in a header…….Manchester United defeated Arsenal in a match that featured a hilarious ejection to Arsene Wenger who then tried to watch the game in the crowd. Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-1 ….is a young Arsenal a serious contender this year and how much has United been hurt by the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez…

INTER thrash AC MILAN

Inter Milan crushed AC Milan in an early “Milan Derby” in this Serie A season.
One has to question the strength of AC Milan and also if Leonardo was the correct choice as manager? Pretty tough odds being a new coach and having to report to a ego type owner in Silvio Berlusconi who has questioned every tactical move from Leonardo. And MLS managers think they have it tough?

I really hope that Landin starts this game. He looked good last sunday and a start would really show us what he is made up of. Chelski looks good, but I’m wishing for a Arsenal reawakening after that own goal and loss against ManUre. I believe it did ManUre good selling CR7 but Tevez too? They should’ve kept Carlitos. Inter thrashing AC in the Milano derby…um… what’s new? To Edwin from the last topic…I believe the only game that will break 20,000 at Robertson that’s not the play-offs is the LA game. I don’t blame people for not going to Robertson. Horrible seating, bad field conditions, games that scheduled around school, and there are other things that make Robertson a bad family experience. Frankly, I love it due to the great Pitch view from wherever you sit and I was part of that early club of guys that used to go to games in the 90s between Mexican clubs and a couple of Salvadorean v. Mexican club games. You know the ones…the ones that always had bottles being thrown, fights, and stuff getting thrown on the pitch. With games being scheduled between 8-1 AM during school days. The announcer used to have to come on in order to say, “If these actions persist the game will be cancelled and another football match will never take place here again.” For some of you part of that club y’all would also remember there being no seating on the ends so people used to catch the game from behind the fence or those same people would create a hole in the fence and sneak in. Oh and let’s not mention the winter games that took place during hailstorms and rain! So anything is an improvement over that! I was 10 and experienced that…ah…how I miss it :-P

Glenn, you keep dissing La Liga, I know we get lots of EPL games on TV, but finally someone like ESPN is picking some La Liga games (obviously because FSC took the UEFA Champions League).

Finally today, after years of not being able to watch AThletic Club Bilbao on TV in the USofA, today I finally watched them on ESPN Deportes, and they even won against Español de Barcelona, if we could only get rid of those ugly ads on our shirts (what´s next on our road to destroy our identity, using SPaniards and foreigners?, we are a small team, we will never be a big time, not using Spaniards or foreigners and not having ads on our jerseys made us different), that will teach me not to vote for team´s president without doing my research.

¡A la bi, a la ba, a la bim bom bam, Athlétic, Athlétic ganará! …

How about some loving for La Liga ;)

Now, returning to MLS talk, today we need to win to stay in control of our future, but most importantly, we need to get our momentum, since we have playoffs, I couldn´t care less about ending in 1st place, if this were the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, I would care a lot, but with a playoff system, it is not about your position at the end of regular season, it is about the momentum, we need that momentum back.

    Jarrambide,
You have to remember that 1st place gets the Supporter’s Shield which gets you a berth to the CONCACAF Champions League…and you actually get a fancy trophy! La Liga is my fav league behind Mexican

  4. Jarrambide says:

Leo, I know that, other 3 teams get a berth to Concachampions(yes, 2 go to the pre-group game, but still), including the champion.

My point is that you can be 1st place and lose the first series, in a league with a playoof system, your position means nothing, inventing a title like “supporter´s Shield” and giving you a berth in the CCL is just a way to disguise the fact that position means nothing in our league as long as you qualify and you start the playoffs with a good momentum.

Lets be honest, until we get 17 teams, the fact that more than half or at least half (when we get number 16) of the teams qualify to the playoffs is sort of a joke, that is my biggest complaint with the FMF, 8 out of 18 teams qualifying is way to much, right now, 8 out of 15 is a way to reward mediocre teams.

If one day we decide to get rid of the playoff system, I will care about being 1st place, right now, I couldn´t care less.

Dynamo played an ugly game. Landin came in and probably touched the ball 3 times and frankly its not really his fault because as we all could see Ching didn’t touch the ball all that much neither. Davis got ejected be it Mastroeni should have been ejected too, and how about that penalty that didn’t go our way. But still Dynamo played one horrific game. They should have sent in more crosses our mid showed absolutely no connection or chemistry with our attacking third! Kei Kamara missed at the very least 2 open shots, had Landin or Ching been there instead of him those would’ve been goals! Dom should start Landin and Ching, this way any cross in the area automatically turns deadly. Eh…this is so frustrating so many lost points and we have so many games in hand that this is starting to turn into some ridiculous ending. Maybe instead of Landin, Dom should’ve looked for an attacking midfielder…hindsight is always 20/20 though.

    INTER CRUSHES AC MILAN!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!!

  7. joshquasimoto says:

The dynamo did not create that many clear cut chances and Davis should not have been ejected for his foul unless he already had a yellow. The officiating in this game was “mickey mouse to say the least. The official was inconsistent with physical calls then non-physical calls but the Elbow my Mastroeni on Hainult was not only “cynical” but his acting injured was even more ridiculous. Mastroeni wasn’t even hiding the fact that his forearm/elbow made contact with Mastroeni’s face and the ref yellow carded him, what a joke. What the hell was his forearm doing up there, why did play not stop immediately, after all it was head injury? If the officials can not protect the players then they should not be out there!
