How bizarre was it to watch CUAUHTEMOC BLANCO playing for SANTOS in the MFL playoffs.
He hit one of his patented long run-up penalty kicks as SANTOS have advanced to the semi-finals after disposing of SAN LUIS.
ATLANTE got past TIGRES despite a tied aggregate scored due to a better regular season.
So today it is CRUZ AZUL and UNAM PUMAS………TECOS and TOLUCA
MANCHESTER UNITED defeated MANCHESTER CITY in their “Derby” match. WAYNE ROONEY getting the game winner in the 42nd minute is historic 100th goal in the EPL. CRISTIANO RONALDO was sent off for two yellow cards…..Please tell me you saw the amazing goals yesterday by BARCELONA’s LIONEL MESSI against SEVILLA…..absolute brilliance. THIERRY HENRY seems out of sorts playing wide in the BARCA midfield….so go get him MLS! It was ARSENAL who turned him in to a center forward. His early days at JUVENTUS as a teen-ager he was also being utilized wide….Meanwhile ROBIN VAN PERSIE destroyed CHELSEA in the second half to help ARSENAL pull off a stunning 2-1 win.
Former MLS executive IVAN GAZIDIS is now the CEO of ARSENAL.

Messi just keeps amazing me everytime I see him come up with goals like yesterday’s…he’s one of a kind surely…
on the Blanco note, funny how pretty much same thing that happened to the Dynamo, (playing against the team that just got in the playoffs and getting eliminated), but Santos is just not the same team with Blanco in the lineup…
Sorry to say it but all the Blanco haters out there are biting their tongue after these two performances…(myself included)….
He might not be the fastest and strongest player out there but his smart and competitive playing made this Santos squad a real contender for the title I believe…
He was involved (directly or indirectly) in 4 of the 5 goals Santos scored in this playoff series…All those people that thought he came to MLS to “retire” are now becoming believers…he seems to just keep finding an edge in his game that a 36 (almost) year old shouldn’t have…
and of course to take a job at Santos when he could’ve easily just taken a vacation, says a lot about Blanco the player…Blanco the diver, and cocky at times man is not the one I’d like to remember….that’s for sure..
One has to wonder if Ericksson is now re-thinking calling him up for the last part of the WC qualifiers…if he keeps up his game I dont’ see why not…
But even if he does come back to El Tri and saves the day…I don’t think he will have enough to play in South Africa….
Hi Glenn,
Now that the Dynamo are done for the rest of 2008, what do you see on the horizon as far as who may test the waters in Europe. Who may be traded, will we use our DP? Will we finally get the stadium settled, and if we don’t, should we be concerned the Dynamo may seek another city to locate to. We see Jacqua will not be back, any ideas who is available in MLS to take that spot or abroad? Or will Kamara slide into that starting role, or will he continue to be an energy guy off the bench. Will Stuart Holden finally be in the starting lineup because he belongs, or will Dom remain loyal to Mullan and Davis? What about Wade Barrett at least seeing a reduced role and we see more Chabala as Wade seemed to have lost a step. Will Coach Spencer leave and what kind of impact will that have on the squad? What role and position will Geoff Cameron settle into next season. I really like some of the youth of Ashe, Cameron, Holden, and Chabala and like to see them blend in with the vets. Also, is Corbin Waller capable of being a number 2 goalie to be groomed behind Pat Onstad? What kind of prospect is he? Also is their anyone in the academy that has the organization excited? Sorry for so many questions, but I think for the first time the team has been here, we have a lot of questions this offseason. I appreciate the time you take to do this blog for the fans and answering my questions. Thank you.
Van Persie did not destroy Chelsea. The AR and the blind as a bat Mike Dean did! That offside call missed on RVP was horrible. I guess the 4th official got tired of hearing Arsene Wenger complaining to him the entire match.
At least Scolari had the class not to rip the official after the game. The only thing he wants is an apology, which is more than deserved. What would have happened if that call had gone against Ferguson or Wenger? We would have never heard the end of all the complaining. Scolari is a class act.
Chelsea needs strikers Glenn, and Anelka and Drogba are not enough to carry the entire season. We need to unload a midfielder and add a striker and we will run wild in the BPL!
Coach H,
You are blinded by “blueness”.
No credit to Van Persie or Arsenal? Just a poor referee’s performance.
Where is the humility?
Loved what Scolari did and the way he handled the situation.
A lesson for all EPL managers.
According to CHELSEA CEO, Drogba is going no-where.
