  4. William says:

Glenn- Congrats to your city and Dynamo fans on getting next season’s all star game. No doubt will be MLS vs. Mexico club side.
After seeing Gold Cup and the Football Challenge crowds, shame that the large Hispanic soccer fan base here in America that so readily embraces their home countries teams forays into the States to play, by and large does not support MLS teams based in their cities.
Even having a Mexican International star- Blanco does not equate to sell out at Toyota Park for American club Chicago Fire.
Chivas USA another example of team that plays in front of a less than half full HDC

  5. Trey says:

Congratulations to Houston for getting the 2010 All Star nod. But please Mr. Garber, think a bit out of the box for this one. A Mexican side! Am I simply complaining or are there others of you out there who would like to see a European side play here in Houston. Yes, ticket sales might be greater if you had Chivas or Club America, etc., but give Houston a chance to prove we can bring out fans of soccer to a match. We packed Reliant for the Barcelona match (yes I know, Club America were playing) How about bringing in Fulham with a Texas boy, Clint Dempsey or one of the other Euro teams with a US player such as AC Milan or go for a big hit like Real Madrid. Star power (and great soccer players) that transcends All soccer fans.

Besides, do the Mexican fans deserve to have one of their own teams come here after there horrible fan display at Reliant during the Gold Cup earlier this month? Throw punches and insults at me all you want, I grow weary of watching beer and water bottles being hurled at players on the pitch.

  6. Summa says:

I am pleased and suprised by the anouncement of the 2010 all star game here. I would have thought the new NYRB stadium would be highlighted. Regardless of the draw it should be held at the Reliant as H-town will show up and represent.

Soccer by Ives is reporting Livorno has signed Rico.

    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/07/injured-donovan-could-miss-allstar-game-clark-signs-for-livorno-and-more.html

Clark to join Livorno in January
Ricardo Clark has agreed to join Italian club Livorno, but he won’t be heading there until January.

According Corriere di Livorno, Livorno president Aldo Spinelli has confirmed that the Houston Dynamo midfielder has agreed to terms with the club, but that he will not join the team until January, when the winter transfer window opens.

  8. margo says:

I think Ricardo should finish out the 2009 season as a Dynamo. If not for his teammates, then for the Houston fans. And I vote for a European team to come here for the 2010 All Star game. I am in full agreement with Trey.

  9. Michael says:

I would like to see the MLS invite a team from the Bundesliga for the 2010 All-Star game in Houston. It might entice some developing German players to sign with a MLS Club and German tourists can spend all their vacation Euro’s in the USA.

I also think Robertson would be a good venue for the game. In Robertson the game would probably sell out and everyone would see that the Dynamo needs their own stadium. The structure is just too old and parking is inadequate. Television coverage from Robertson around the USA and back to Germany might speed the process of getting the new stadium built.

  10. Jon says:

Sounds like Ricardo will stay the rest of this season with the Dynamo. That’s nice because we don’t have to worry “is this game his last?” for the next month. He’ll get a chance to finish his season and make a clean break for Italy afterwards.

We’ll miss him. But I think we will wish him only the best if he does decide to leave. He’s been fantastic for us.

  11. The Sarge says:

#1- Hope the Orange stay healthy with CCL right around the corner.
#2- If at all possible it would be interesting to see Man U, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Stutgart as an opponent for 2010 All Star Game.
#3- If it is true the Rico will be joining Livorno I think that we as fans should give him a HUGE send off for his last game (The MLS Cup Final) since he has contributed so much to the team, the fans and the city.
#4- I move to vote that a remote broadcoast be held in The Woodlands area somewhere PLEASE. Prehaps Molly’s Pub, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fox and the Hound, etc.

  12. dave in socal says:

    Glenn,
I am not over the U.S.- MEX game. The referees in this Gold Cup let the players play until that suspicious penalty. For example, the U.S. should have had two pks against Haiti and two against Honduras in the semis. A lack of game management ( a very high defensive line)let the scoreline get so huge. This led to four counter attack goals.
This is the third time running the CONCACAF team that played in the Confederations Cup had a disaster at the same years Gold Cup. The U.S. in 2003, MEX in 2005 and the U.S. in 2009. I think it is time for the CONCACAF Gold Cup to be played every four years or at least not in conflict with the World Cup, World Cup Qualifiers,Confederations Cup, Olympics, or the Copa (Sud)America.

  13. Martek says:

Pachuca!!! I was beginning to be afraid that Dynamo would not play los Tuzos this year. It’s my favorite non-MLS rivalry for Dynamo. You can bet I’ll be there Sept. 30.
