It’s really sad to see the Rio Tinto half empty in the playoffs with a perfect weather…what happened with the RSL fans?
Apparently, halloween is bigger in Utah than anyone thought … the playoff game wasn’t in the season ticket package, and this family-oriented community felt like trick=or=treating was more important …

Hmm, that’s weird because they average about 15-16K a game, and they a had a pretty strong crowd for their last game vs Colorado for the last game of the season it was like 18K or something so about 80% or so?
So I’m going to the Chivas USA vs Galaxy SuperCalisico! Although is a Chivas game I’m going and will be arguing with the Goat fans, then on the 8th we’ll have our stadium back to normal with our proper colors!

I hope that you guys put on a good show, I’m torn here, half of me wants you to make it because I think we match up better, and also because the more success you guys have the easier it is to justify a new stadium, but I’m also compelled to push for Seattle, so I’ll root for them next year in the Concacaf Champions League, I am sure they will dispatch of whatever Salvadorian or Trinidad team they have to play a 2 game playoff with and then advance to the quarter finals, hell who knows they might actually be able to beat a Mexican team?
In any case, well Houston looks like I’m going to make a prediction, since my World Cup qualifying for Concacaf prediction and Conmebol ended up true.
I picked them as follows:

Okay I was a bit off on the 3rd & 4th places for South America, I think El Salvador put on an amazing performance and with some seasoning and experience and a good preparation with the 2011 Gold Cup players like Cristian Castillo, Rodolfo Zelaya, Julio Martinez who play for Leon FC of Mexico’s 2nd division; Ramon Sanchez, Arturo Alvarez of the San Jose Earthquakes; Eliseo Quintanilla of Ermis from Cyprus and even Alfredo Pacheco who played for the Red Bulls although he got waived he at least has experience in a more physical league, that was their fault lack of stamina and conditioning.
Anyhow enough about qualifying
So my prediction is 4 teams will get their stadium deal done, start construction/renovation, complete construction and open it before the Dynamo do.
So far, oh BTW I’m not counting NYRB, KC is due to start the construction of their 18K Trails Stadium soon they were going to do it at this old mall that should be finished being demolished and the land flatten but now are having some money troubles because of the economic turmoil, then you have Portland & Vancouver who will renovate and adapt BC PGE Park and BC Place respectively.
Vancouver’s BC Place is will have a removable roof which I believe will be an MLS 1st and will still wait for Soccer Specific Stadium, I am praying they don’t use turf so we limit the fake stuff to 2 stadiums and 1 per Conference!
So I have to think of a 3rd… hmmm? Well to fire you guys up I will predict all 3 of those teams and the new Earthquakes will beat the Dynamo to it!
Not counting Philly either who will have their own 18.500 SSS, seems kind of small since they are capping it off at 12,000 for Season ticket purchases, God I hope they plan it so they can expand easily because of the way is built by the river and near a bridge it doesn’t look like too much room for expansion?
So come on Houston, you need to gather the troops and let Gene Locke and the other guy Brown know the City of Houston promised the Dynamo a stadium and you guys deserve that promise be kept, I mean it will be almost 5 years since the team moved with that deal in place by the time next season ends, and we all know as of right now they wouldn’t finish the stadium in time for the 2011 season, which is cool that way the “Dynamic Park” little joke/suggetion there, can be the only new stadium in 2012 unless they KC doesn’t open theirs before?
In any case let these guys know how important it is, Texian Army and Batallon you need to write to Oscar and ask him to put up some of the cash, he just spent a ton of money on a Charter school for High School kids from low income areas, he can afford a cheap 20-30 million? Tell County thanks but no thanks, tell him to take the 10 million from the City, 10 million of his would make up for the County’s share, if they change their mind he can always get the money later, tell TSU no thanks we don’t like NCAA logos all over our Soccer stadiums in MLS and then use the rest to make sure is a nice size stadium at least 25K, you guys need to do a better job of attending the games though, plan groups to go to the games, B-Day parties something!
Come on Houston, Seattle has shoved the door down and knocked, are we the other cities going to answer? Vancouver sold out the initial 5K $50 deposit in like an hour, I wouldn’t be surprised if they cap off their STH at 15-16K.
Portland looks like they’ll have 75% sellouts all the time at least in a 22K stadium ( approx. 16500 )
So lets go Houston, up until the LA Galaxy game you guys wer 5th, FIFTH!!!!!!

You were like 1046 ahead of DC in the attendace rankings, small markets like KC & San Jose are limited but could easily be around the 15-18K range if they had a bigger stadium they both sell out their little 10K stadiums
Chivas USA is gaining momentum and I as a soccer fan attend their games to support soccer, I bought 6 game “Stimulus” pack and plan on buying maybe 4 seats to get tickets for the games vs Dynamo, Seattle, Columbus, Galaxy Super Clasico ofcourse, if Blanco is back the Fire but will give them away to get people to go to the games!
Lets do it fellow followers of the beautiful game!
Houston is an international 1st class city, they deserve a 1st class MLS specific stadia!
Here’s me wishlist to Santa Claus, Easter Bunny etc etc:
1st. Middle of the field tunnel entrance like in Rome, Milan, Camp Nou, Emirates etc etc like they did in Chicago’s Toyota Park and NY Red Bull Arena and this year’s All-Star hosting Rio Tinto.
This is just a unique touch that the stadium needs!
Only thing our HDC lacks I wish it had
2nd. Roof, this is key to make the stadium look modern, enclosing or cozy, and most important it give it that european look or even asian look from the 2002 Cup, plus it helps with the rain in Houston and it will help keep the noice loud which I know you guys love!
3rd. I am working on a desgin for this to see what you guys thing but I think if they make all the seats orange and have the Dynamo Crest or shield on the side opposite of the press boxex/luxury suites and on that side have it spell Houston Dynamo! Or youu could have the logo on the seats behind the goals and have it say Houston Dynamo on the Press Box and Dynamo in bigger letters on the other sideline.

Why did Schelotto not play for the Crew yesterday? If I recall correctly he played 85 minutes on the last game of the season last week which meant nothing for the Crew. RSL fans crowd turnout was very dissapointing.
