Petition: For Mens Soccer in Texas at the NCAA Div. 1 Level

TSH: Petition Header Image

It remains remarkable to me that in one of the top soccer markets in the entire country that NCAA Division 1 mens soccer is not currently offered at the UH, Rice University, University of Texas, or Texas A&M to name a few. In fact SMU is the only college or university that offers mens NCAA Division 1 soccer. If you like I believe the top players need an option to stay in Texas please sign the following petition and comment. The list will be offered to the board of regents at the institutions. Dear Texas Regents,

As a Texas Tech Alumnus, I am disappointed that Tech, along with many other Texas universities, does not offer a men’s soccer program. I would love to see my son attend Tech and be part of its soccer program, but that currently is not possible. Please consider adding soccer to the sports programs at the Texas universities. It’s a complete shame that the entire state of Texas can’t get with the rest of the nation and add the sport.

    Thank you for your consideration.

Some of the best players in the country are out of the state of Texas, and it’s sad that there is only one D1 school in the state. There needs to be more D1 schools with a men’s soccer program. UT, UH, Rice, aTm, Texas Tech, UTEP. I think they all could contend with a D1 program. You’ve got my vote!

We need more options in Texas

  4. Jess White says:

It is a travesty and slap in the face that the Big 12, CUSA schools and others do not provide men’s division one soccer for our youth. Top quality players are leaving the state every year to further their careers. There is no reason Baylor, UT, UH, Rice and many others could not add a men’s team to the women’s teams that already exist. DON’T USE TITLE IX AS AN EXCUSE!

  5. Emmanuel Mtz. Rangel says:

It’s sad that college/universities in Texas, dont have div.I men soccer programs, in the state of texas there is great talent and prosperity for soccer. please start div.I mens soccer programs.

  6. Doug says:

How do I sign up for the petition?

  7. R. Sey says:

We NEED soccer at ALL our colleges and universities, not just SMU, period!
