Congratulations Glenn for your inaugural induction to the Orange Blazer Club. Keep up the good work.
Will we see you sporting your new beautiful Orange blazer at Home Depot Center this Friday night? I have a feeling its going to be a classic match. Great stadium, great pitch, and the atmosphere should be electric. Flight / hotel / rental car are booked, ticket is in hand.
So is Locke really THE candidate in favor of the stadium? Do we know any details from Parker on this issue. The “SAND BOX” at Robertson is a disgrace and almost took out Cameron yesterday.
FOREVER ORANGE !!!
Glenn, Felizidades!!! You are well deserved of this honor and I am glad that we have something like this to honor everything you have done in our city for our sport…the most beautiful game in the world. I remember watching you play and I could not imagine then how long it would be before we would see a professional soccer team we could call our own as we do the Dynamo. My friend YOU ARE A DYNAMO in the truest meaning of the word and YOU ARE A TRAIL BLAZER. Your heart is a soccer ball that beats as a soccer ball rolls. Thanks to you that vision we all shared of seeing the most popular game in world come to our city came true. You were that light in dark times and the voice that spoke even if it felt no one was listening. As we prepare to go after MLS’s darling Hollywood team it is awesome to pause and thank you for everything because today thanks in part to you we the entire city of Houston prepare as two time MLS Champions chasing a third title in only 4 years since the dream came true and you prepare for tv shows, radio programs, and sporting a new naranja blazer. The Orange Dynamo Blazer will fit you to a Tand I know you will wear it with honor and represent us all with the same pride we have of you.
Congrats Glenn. I wish the acoustics were a bit better for the presentation yesterday at the stadium.
Well, I wish the field was better as well.
And I wish we had a stadium.
But congrats on the honor, you’ve done your part for soccer in the media.
Congratulations Glen!!! I too saw you play back in the day. I moved to Houston in 1980 and got to see the NASL Houston Hurricanes play in the Astrodome. What a cavern feeling with less than 5,000 at the games. We’ve come a long way baby!!
You have been an integral part of keeping the torch burning until it caught fire with our Dynamo. Keep up the good work and Felicitaciones!!
Go Dynamo!! Where is our stadium!!!!
I am humbled. I only represent many others that have enjoyed working passionately with an amazing game and soccer community here in Houston.
It is wonderful to see fans so engaged, young players participating and professional players getting the respect that they deserve. With add to the mix increased media coverage and the sport is blooming with limitless potential.
Victor Delgadillo and Jack Stanfield were both pioneers in their area and there are so many others that are unrecognized.
Glenn
If the Dynamo pay a large yearly sum for rent on Robertson stadium, don\\\’t they have any say on upkeep of the field? And why has there been no recent news on our new Dynamo stadium? Is it a done deal or what? Do we have to wait for the new mayor to push this through? I am afraid if this deal falls through, then the Dynamo will start looking elsewhere for a city that WILL build them a stadium. Where is AEG and De La Hoya in the mix?
Thanks for everything Glenn. If other cities in the US had a soccer pioneer like you, our country would be further along in calling itself a soccer nation. We will get there soon! Thank you and GO ORANGE!!!!
John
Congrats Glenn, I really hope that you are on ESPN more often, the way I see it if there’s an important game to watch you and John Harkes or even you, Harkes and Dellacamera would be great, all you combine to bring everything there is to bring to the game thru broadcast, Harkes can be a bit obssisive but he’s usually pretty good to hear as far as commentary is concerned!
You going to be in LA on friday?
Glenn – congrats again, my man.
As an inaugural member, do you have any insight into the criteria necessary for induction? Can active players be nominated? Because few deserve the honor more than his Waibelness.
After the match Sunday, after sunset, we were hanging around Gate 7 watching the players come out. Waibel, clearly in a hurry, is scurrying out without stopping to sign any autographs and he’s carrying a Sounders jersey. I holler after him and ask if he traded for Freddie’s jersey (a fitting reward for the head-bonk), and he turns and says yeah, it’s for a kid at the hospital, and by all appearances he was on his way there to give it to them. Pure class.
It’s not that he needs the club to give him a blazer. Waibel could just look at a flock of sheep, a box of silkworms, and three ore-laden stones, and the Blazer would make itself.
Craig is a fantastic asset to the sport and our soccer community and they jersey is for a young man named Nick Doize, nicksteam.org
I am doing a soccer camp in December for Nick and cancer awareness with all proceeds going to Texas Childrens Hospital so please spread the word!
