ALEX MORGAN AKA “baby horse”
U.S. fans are seeing a coming out party from Alex Morgan who identical to her goals yesterday just seems as though she will not be denied.
She is a marketing dream right now for U.S. soccer, that is of course when she is on the field.
As you know Morgan finds it hard to get into Pia Sundhage’s lineup based on tactics and of course the intense competition that is in the team.
In a 4-4-2 Morgan has started the last two games for the U.S. scoring twice in both games and essentially wreaking havoc with her movement against both Canada in Olympic qualifying and yesterday against New Zealand scoring in the 88th minute and then in stoppage time.
She is exciting, attractive, doing body paint on her body and is getting marriage proposals on her facebook page.
Oh, and she is scoring goals.
HANDSHAKE
So Luis Suarez did not shake the hand of Patrice Evra prior to the highly anticipated Liverpool vs. Manchester United game yesterday. The handshake overshadowed a Manchester United 2-1 win. Suarez blew it with the eyes of the world on him and he and Liverpool today have quickly taken responsibility and have apologized.
His actions yesterday reminded us that he is not over the situation in which he had to serve an eight match ban. (John Terry also accused of racism has had his judgement postponed).
To go further Suarez made a selfish decision on this day that had a direct influence on his teammates and his club.
Equally as poor were Manchester United’s Patrice Evra’s actions yesterday as an instigator during the match, his post-game reaction to me was a bit over-the top and was definetly directed at Suarez.
Neither man dealt with this situation properly.
Would love to have seen United call their own out for their actions, this time in the case of Evra, manager Alex Ferguson did make a reference to it to be fair.
Speaking of handshakes it is always good to use a firm grip.
FC DALLAS STADIUM
This was a legitimate sell out yesterday in Frisco for the U.S. Women against New Zealand and the ladies delivered the five star entertainment sending a frigid crowd home happy. Their was a great energy at this game and the U.S. Women right now buoyed by an Olympic year, high profile stars like Hope Solo, Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan are connecting.
Coach Pia Sundhage was on the field prior to the game and announced the starting lineup over the PA to the fans. It was interesting to say the least.
The biggest question for the U.S. National team remains at the back and more so at the outside back position.
NOVARA STUNS INTER/ZAMBIA WINS AFRICAN NATIONS CUP
Inter Milan was shocked on the road by last place Novara 1-0. A late push saw Wesley Sneijder hit the crossbar but vital points were lost.
Zambia meanwhile defeated star studded Ivory Coast on penalty kicks to win the African Nations Cup.

I can’t say having yourself dolled up in body paint helps promote women’s soccer in the US [especially since the powers that be can't seem to put a successful business model in place], but doggone, I’ve seen the pics and she’s very…..impressive !. Props to Alex and her Agent for orchestrating this self-promoting eye candy.
My thoughts have always been, MLS and WPS should have attempted to partner in some fashion. Doubleheaders, shared stadiums, some affiliation between the two teams [C'mon, WPS - at least place your product in the same market as an MLS team, you're in no danger of losing fans from one game to another]. I personnaly would love to spend 4 hours on a Sunday watching Alex Morgan and Abby and Hope battling, followed by Tyler Deric and the Taserettes in a reserve match.
Re: The [No]Handshake Heard Round The World… Have watched the footage over and over and it sure appears that Evra dropped his hand to waist level just as Suarez approached with his extended and seeing this, Suarez decided to just past him by. Evra, apparently feeling dissed, then grabbed Suarez by the arm… Sir AFergie, ever the football diplomat, ends the game by calling for the other team Coach to fire the perp ? C’mon Alex, did you not see what an a** clown Evra made of himself post-game celebrating ? And/or do you not remember you allowing Eric Cantona to return to the pitch after his kung fu display against a Crystal Palace fan ? Your outrage is disingenuous at best, and downright laughable.
At least with John Terry, there seems to be some collaboration that the offending comments were even spoken. I find it hard to believe [well, not really] that Suarez has been crucified solely based on P. Evra’s [Senegalese] interpretation of what Luis Suarez [Urugyayan] said in broken English.
I wouldn’t have shook his hand either. Suarez served a suspension for something no one else heard but Evra. Evra is known to be a hot head. I know your suppose to keep it professional but if you were suspended and fined for, and lets say for the sake of argument something you didn’t say, would you shake that guys hand? Hell no I wouldn’t. Now if Suarez did say something, then Suarez is just a big Douche Bag.
Hang on a second Lantz. Suarez admitted using a racially insensitive word. Case closed. Let’s not forget we are talking about a guy who when playing for Ajax bit the ear )or another part of an opponents anatomy). He served a 7 match ban for that. On Evra’s interpretation of what Suarez said: Pat’s no fool, he speaks French, English, Spanish, Italian and a little bit of Korean.
Well there you go Suarez is just a Big Douche bag.
Wasn’t Patrice also the player claiming his Senegalese supporters racially abused him after he decided to play for France in the WC, then led a player revolt against his Coach, argued with the fitness coach, and was stripped of the Captain’s armband ? Then the former Capt. stated Evra should be banned permanently from playing for the Natl Team, and he served a five intl match ban…
Don’t want to attack the accuser, but Patrice is no Saint. Neither is the ‘Cannibal of Ajax’. Unfortunately, both showed their true colors this past weekend.
To make this matter even more absurd, I heard that one of Suarez’s grandfathers is black. Whether he said something or not, it sets a dangerous precedent to ban a player for 8 games based on the word of one opponent, especially one with the reputation of being a troublemaker.
I’m more interested in who Kenny is going to ban for the lackluster performance.
YNWA
Didn’t Evra admit to insulting Suarez’s sister?
I would of elbowed him and then in the next game, like yesterday I wouldn’t of shaken anything with him either!
What’s with all the hand shaking being the most important?
God grow up, what is this “Fun Fair Positive Soccer” ???
And you wonder why the US dominates in most sports they actually follow consistently and have pro leauges for?
I don’t see our sports stars who hate each other shaking hands, maybe quick one after Football games but in NBA there’s a simulated one at midcourt .
I just want to say how great of a game the AFCON Final was. There was some truly brilliant soccer and some gritty soccer. It was end to end and the announcer said it best, “And the Zambian is countering the counter attack.” It was by far the best scoreless final I have ever seen, I think. Is anyone else going to be at the preseason game in Orlando on the 24th or 26th?
