Observations from Dynamo reserve match vs. Colorado

Make no mistake the reserve league is important in many ways.
Regulars can come back from injury, those not playing can stake a claim and turn the head of a coach and get vital game fitness, but most importantly it is a place for young players to get vital experience mixing with more seasoned veterans.
These matches also in the future hopefully will take on a deeper meaning to the Houston youth soccer community.
Today’s match saw the Dynamo get a 1-0 win over Colorado fielding a lineup that included Calen Carr, Mac Kandji, Cam Weaver, Luiz Camargo, Tyler Deric, Josue Soto, Alex Dixon and others.
The game frankly seemed very comfortable with momentary outbreaks of a higher speed of play and risk. It just seemed safe. Luiz Camargo still looks far behind fitness wise and may be pacing himself? Cam Weaver did not look hungry up front, Mac Kandji pulled out wide most of the time and Alex Dixon had a few moments but was not impressionable overall.
As for those that stood out, lets first go to Warren Creavalle. Wearing number 5 and playing right back his control was impressive and he brought some edge and energy proving out a prospect that the Dynamo selected in the draft . Brian Ownby who scored the game’s lone goal deserves real credit for coming on and bringing some passion to the game taking a few people on before scoring the game winning goal.
Tough to read into these games but with only 10 reserve games on the year I would have expected a bit more from players trying to impress head coach Dominic Kinnear and his staff.

Glenn: Why is Camargo so far behind fitness wise? Didn’t he go through training camp?

Well u tried to paint an opportunistic picture but i am afraid vets playing reserve matches leaves them little motivation. Considering how our starting strikers played i could see why people were off their game. Mac Kandji does not look to be a good fit with our team. There was a reason why Colorado wanted him out.
Camargo is telling the dynamo he does not want it. No reason to report out of shape. If it was a rookie he would be cut. This is a problem that will not go away.
Dynamo midfield is a shadow of its former self. Camargo is MIA, Moffatt had a slow start, why? Davis still trying to find his form. Clark was solid but does not scare anybody. Dixon and Watson need to step up the door is open for u.

Hey guys, I just read an article on MLSsoccer.com and it says that Luiz Camargo had been having some VISA issues regarding getting his pregnant wife here so he’d been travelling back and forth between Houston and Brazil. While in Brazil he was in a car accident that injured his leg and prevented him from training during the offseason. The article also says that his wife had their baby that past Wednesday (3.14.2012) so he flew back down to be with his wife and child.

I think the Government has ramped up their efforts regarding awarding VISA’s for people wanting to come to the United States. Look at Luke Rodgers, his VISA status has been in limbo for months.
