DAVID BECKHAM HURTING

It is always hard to tell who is carrying injuries at the end of the season and as we learned from recent surgeries to Brian Ching and Brian Mullan …..some of the players are playing through injuries that would shelve many others and most will not say a word about it because they don’t want to advertise it to an opponent.
So I find it strange that LA and David Beckham are making it so public that he is going to take an injection prior to tomorrow’s MLS Cup final. Nothing like putting a target on yourself……So what are the chances Kyle Beckermann or someone will be the first to get in a hard tackle on ‘Becks’ who apparently has carried a bone bruise for awhile.
So maybe it was public knowledge but why is this being built up?…Why was this not kept close to the vest. Could this add to the drama of Becks going for the MLS Cup……So now if Beckham plays well it will be all about his incredible courage to play on a bone bruise while others equally injured will never be known. More importantly the press is now all over this story as opposed to star building some others that could play a big part of this match.
Marketing or not? You tell me……..

HOLDEN TO SCOTLAND?
We are all seeing the reports coming out of Aberdeen. The MLS is a better league than the SPL despite the SPL history of some clubs. It is that history and finances that can make it appealing for players to play overseas. Now before you jump to conclusions it could be a good stepping stone for Stuart Holden and trying to get over to England. I am sure there are Championship teams interested in Holden in England.
His story is a great one and he was nurtured along over the past four season beautifully by Dominic Kinnear and staff. His skill set, ability to calm a game down, improved physical range, set piece ability, play in tight areas and willingness to defend have not gone unnoticed.
Holden made a great move not re-signing with the Dynamo and MLS as he came into his final season . So at this point if it is in fact true that foreign clubs will offer a far more lucrative contract financially why would he not grab it?
I also understand the World Cup situation and remaining here in Houston where it is comfortable and where he would be a focal point of the Dynamo and MLS.
Yet there are players on the U.S. national team that don’t play regularly at their clubs and come national team games are in the starting lineup.
Holden’s unique ability on the ball , versatility and performances in my mind make him a lock to go to South Africa.
Speculation is good but with both Clark and Holden potentially gone immediately Geoff Cameron comes to mind in central midfield.

*LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER CITY drew 2-2 today and Emmanuel Adebayor got his first goal since September. City were the better team in the second half buoyed by Carlos Tevez……

MONTERREY vs. CLUB AMERICA

This is recommended viewing tonight as Mexico Liguilla gets off and running. The night-cap between Cruz Azul and Puebla is a beauty as well.

Glenn- Right on with your comments reference to Beckham’s ” injury”. All part of the drama that comes with ” Becks”
Really pulling for RSL tomorrow. Would love to see Andy Williams score winner. He’s been thru a lot last couple of years.Maybe Clint Mathis will be x factor and come have big game.

  2. Kirk says:

With becks injury being so public what are the chances that the referee “protects” him even more than usual?
I predict the first hard tackle on becks earns a quick yellow.

  3. Kirk says:

Cameron, Davis and possibly Mulrooney(if re signed) isn’t a bad group in central midfield. I do expect an off season addition. How about going after Beckerman or better yet Arnaud (he’s a local guy right).

I hear Robbie Rogers is probably out in Columbus if Holden goes Robbie would be a great addition on the right, Mullan’s not getting any younger.

  4. Tanner says:

next years midfield, if the dom doesnt bring anyone in

Cameron (defensive mid), Davis (central attacking mid), corey ashe (left mid), mullan/cruz (right mid)

  5. Jeter says:

I pray Holden stays. He still young and has a lot more to learn while under Kinnear. Sure, Cameron can play center mid but prefer him to stay on defense because of his speed. Geoff also is young and has a lot more to learn while under Kinnear. If Holden leaves then I want DeRo back.

Actually, Dynamo need to cancel Landin if Holden leaves and bring in someone like Ljunberg who can make a difference and serve quality to Ching & Oduro. I still say MLS needs to offer Zidane $250 mil like they did Becks & put him on the Dynamo.

  6. cj says:

Glenn, you have to understand that Beckham is a player/actor. He is isn’t the #1 endorsed player in the world for just being a player. This brings into the drama to the whole thing. Remember, when Michael Jordan or Kobe played sick how the media lapped this up. I bet the guy only has a bruised heal but his handlers made sure there was a “big story” to this MLS Cup with his name on it. Yawn…..

  7. Ria says:

We still have Michael Hayden for midfield don’t we? He played almost a whole game(I forgot which one)and I thought he did real well.
