3. Columbus Crew- Last year’s MLS Cup winners have gotten the ship on course after a slow start. Robert Warzycha has to be applauded. Guillermo, Guillermo , Guillermo!

4. Chicago Fire- A locker room fight between Denis Hamlett and Bakary Soumare says it’s intense. Difference makers include C Blanco, Chris Rolfe and Patrick Nyarko.

5. Seattle Sounders FC- Lots of momentum at home but can they do it on the road? Could they fizzle out? Future of Ljunberg? A good overall squad that needs to finish season strong.

6. Chivas USA- Like Sacha Kleijstan they have lost their edge. Rumors of Preki moving on after the season. Can Jesus Padilla make an impact?

7. Toronto FC- Dwayne DeRosario having a good season but inconsistent.

15. New York- It has never happened in New York and Red Bull has struggled both on and off the field. Blow this thing up and start from scratch. Everything that is except the stadium. What must Juan Pablo Angel be thinking.

    Glen,

like that you made out a power ranking table; whats your formula for determining the rank?

  2. Ramiro says:

On Futbol Picante, the 4 commentators are upset at cruz azul that they let Landin go. theyre basically calling Meza stupid. He was Cruz Azul’s Golden Boot last tournament btw.

  3. Coach H says:

    Glenn,

You forgot to put the following teams ahead of the Red Bulls:

    Puerto Rico Islanders
    Carolina Railhawks
    Austin Aztex
    Souther Methodist University Mens Team
    Texas A&M University Womens Team
San Jacinto Junior College Mens Team
    Lamar High School Varsity Team
Lamar High School Junior Varsity Team
    Lamar High School Freshmen Team
Coach H’s Sunday Pub League Team
    Local Club U6 Care Bears

Other than that, it looks fairly good!

Ouch Coach H! I really feel sorry for J.P. Angel now, I bet he is rethinking that contract extension he signed.

  5. Leo says:

Look people as a person that has wanted Landin at the Dynamo after finding out Pachuca wouldn’t resign him…I say expect the first games for him to start off slow…give him two games to really just get used to the atmosphere. He is a really humble dude, or was before going to Monarcas and Azul, all Pachuca players are humble. I say in the regular season he’ll probably get 2 or 3 three assists and 3 or 4 goals. In the playoffs however he’ll play a major part because while every other Dynamo player is running on reserve energy he’ll be at full power. Dynamo didn’t sign a goal scorer, I mean he scores but watch his movement without the ball, look at how he’ll create himself space in order to receive the ball and make a deadly pass to another player. His biggest asset is his movement and dribbling ability. Don’t expect a Golden Boot winner, Landin’s best years were with Pachuca because of Chaco, Damian, and at the time Chitiva being able to send in crosses. Now I don’t want to insult Holden or Clark but they’re no Chaco or Damian! All I have to say is as a Pachuca fan I loved him on the field, but expect him to have more assists for Brian Ching than goals. I’m not saying don’t be optimistic because this guy was part of the 5 trophies in 2 years Pachuca run…he won 2 Leagues, 2 Champions Cup, and that magnificent Conmebol Trophy La Copa Sudamericana…so yeah he’s capable, just hasn’t been there completely in the past couple of seasons.

So the week I tell ya’ll I am getting season tickets is the same week Dynamo signs a former Pachuca player! Hmmm….I’m buying a Dynamo Jersey…*waits for good Dynamo news to come up*

  6. R. Lee says:

Leo, better tell us WHERE your season ticket is!!! Just so we can see how nice you like in your new Dynamo jersey!
Seriously, how is Houston’s climate going to affect Landin? By the way, did I spell his name right??? Will he adapt soon? Opinions? Also, can he speak English or are the Dynamo soccer spanish fluent? I have no idea about any of this. Anyone with answers??

  7. Leo says:

I will be purchasing the Dynamo Season tickets that are in the upper sideline…not rich enough to buy down stairs tickets…so starting next season you shall experience a real football fan! This season i pretty much sit anywhere that ticketmaster or the front window sits me :-) ! Landin used to play in Morelia kinda hot and humid their too! The name is Luis Angel Landin, he will take a game or two to adapt. My opinion is stated above your post and he doesn’t speak english but from what I know Dom seems to speak it pretty well since he played for Necaxa and have heard him during interviews.

  8. glenndavis says:

I like that coach but who is in charge of the Lamar squad?

  9. Edwin says:

Coach H, I wonder how long have you coached at Lamar? I have a friend who started there about 4 years from 96-00 and had a friend who was real good but transferred to Northbrook

  10. Coach H says:

    Edwin,

I was in school from 96-00. I have been at Lamar since 2005.

    Glenn,

There is this crazy guy who likes to think of himself as the American version of Mourinho coaching at Lamar! After this past season, we even played like the Chelsea of old! Now I just need some expensive transfers.

  11. Edwin says:

    Coach H,

    Do you remember Norberto Zamarripa?

So who thinks Chicago is about to fall apart?
The fight, Blanco is gone after this year, McBride can’t have much in his tank in his late 30’s

I heard Marco Papa might leave he owns the rights to his transfer ala Tevez and from what I hear they don’t want to pay him what he wants, there’s even talk of Blanco taking him to Mexico they are supposed to be good friends!

I hope it doesn’t happen, we can’t have another major market with a bad team, New York is enough
