Winning one goal games are critical for any team. Having one goal games stand up in MLS is essential.
Flashback to last night to the 62nd minute when a poorly aligned Dynamo defense allowed KEN COOPER JR. to pound in a free header to tie things up after a BRIAN CHING goal in the first half.
Dynamo defenders were draw to the delivery from JUAN TOJA and allowed far to much space cental for Cooper. Dynamo goalkeeper PAT ONSTAD was livid and rightly so.
Self inflicted mistakes have cost the Dynamo alot of points this year and the ball of frustration continues. It is also fair to say the DYNAMO should have capitalized on their first half performance and produced a second goal. This season that has been a point of contention also.
Credit FC Dallas head coach SHELLAS HYNDMAN for going with a five man midfield in the second half. In fact if ever teams considered playing with three defenders Robertson Stadium and it’s tight confines is the place to do it.
*KEY MOMENT: Stuart Holden clearly in behind the FC Dallas defense gets hacked down like a tree by PABLO RICCHETTI and referee KEVIN STOTT doesn’t send him off. Poor officiating.
*THE SUFFERING: For those who missed the entire first half of the game around the country on ESPN2 because of the triple overtime thriller involving the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden. Sometimes it is really frustrating to be a soccer fan……

Its easy to say, but the officiating was poor. Either way FC Dallas certainly played more physical and it earned them an away point.
For Houston fans watching or attempting to watch the game, you should have been at the stadium. That said, ESPN dropped the ball big time. Why couldn’t they switch the feed to a different ESPN channel and have the ticker announce what channel it is on. ESPN classic is just canned, taped shows. Worst case scenario, they should have tape-delayed the game and shown in its entirety.
Red card: Disney/ABC/ESPN for sleeping at the wheel. No one cares about the WNBA.
We used to play FC Frisco 4 times, 2 at each home ground, and now cuz of the unbalanced schedule with San Jose back in the league Houston plays Dallas just 3 times. How is it fair to award an advantage in road goals scored when one team plays an extra game on the road. Last season the tie breaker works but this season it is a broken breaker Glenn.
Road goals weren’t used in CONCACAF CL and that cost Houston a victory over Pachuca, but now it comes around to hit us and lose the cannon.
Only thing about it all is that El Capitan just collects dust somewhere as our FO never does anything with it.
Not that this is any surorise but I couldn’t agree more with EVERY single thing you said about the game. I wish there was a “recommend” button like they have for the blog thread posts for you. We should have blown it wide open in the first half. Excellent synopsis .
It would be nice if, after the game, the league (or head of refereeing) would publish the ref’s interpretation of calls that are importnat or crucial. That way the fans and the team would know why certain calls were made. Or at least admit when a mistake was made. Very tough to see how Richetti wasn’t the last defender and how Stuart wasn’t denied a clear goal scoring opportunity. Now if he gets a red they’ll just sit back and defend so it certainly doesn’t guarantee a victory since I think Dallas had already equalized.
I think the Dallas goal was Wade Barrett’s fault since Ianni had to move over during the play and Barrett failed to switch and cover Cooper. If he was actually guarding Cooper, it was horrible marking.
I hope your use of the term “thriller” in reference to the WNBA game was sarcastic.
way to go ref, stevie wonder saw that was a red card. another tally for the ref’s for mls. what a marvelous tackle from rico to save the game, they should take some of rico’s blood and put it in batteries and they would never die, kid never gets tired. get em next time boys.
FOREVER ORANGE
Man what is with the ref’s and bad calls this year. If you look back at one of the earlier games i believe it was against Real Salt Lake, DeRo got a yellow for trying a bicycle kick. And now we see Holden get taken down from behind with no other defender coming in on the play. Man these ref’s have it out for the Dynamo this year. And whats with the weird schedule for them. I think one week they had three games where as all the others only played one. Man the league needs to find a better way to structure their season.
I refuse to put the result down to the referee’s though I feel your pain.
Yes I was being sarcastic about the WNBA “thriller”. Just not my cup of tea……..Take your earlier chances and capitalize on your best soccer and a poor call from a referee becomes irrelevant. This is a frustrated team yet that is not a bad sign, that is human nature.
