BAYERN MUNICH ROLLS

Bayern Munich got a 2-0 win behind goals from LUCA TONI and MIROSLAV KLOSE to win at BAYER LEVERKUSEN 2-0. Then are now three points behind BUNDESLIGA leaders HOFFENHEIM by three points who won 3-0 today. The two teams meet next Friday in MUNICH in a compelling match-up.

MANCHESTER DERBY TOMORROW

All eyes will be on a derby that all of a sudden has taken on an added significance due to the resources now being put into MANCHESTER CITY. This past summer the ABU DHABI GROUP took over MANCHESTER CITY and quickly signed ROBINHO. His acquisition has opened the door to other moves and has everyone suspecting that they will make another splash during the January transfer window period. The increased financial power has made this match even more intriguing and competitive.
MANCHESTER CITY are managed by former UNITED striker MARK HUGHES.
ROBINHO has eight goals for MANCHESTER CITY and scored on a spectacular chip last weekend against ARSENAL.
ROBINHO who was linked to go to CHELSEA prior to ending up at CITY claims REAL MADRID backed out of the deal after seeing a picture of ROBINHO on the CHELSEA website before the deal was consumated. REAL MADRID then did not want to sell because they are also in the champions league along with CHELSEA and saw ROBINHO strengthing the CHELSEA squad. So they dumped Robinho to the hinterlands of MANCHESTER.
Robinho passed a fitness test and is expected to start tomorrow.
This should be a good one.

And by the way, ASTON VILLA’s BRAD FRIEDEL silently sent a Premiership record playing in his 167th straight match.
FRIEDEL has to be considered the best goalkeeper ever produced in the UNITED STATES. Or is it KASEY KELLER?
The model of consistency and body of work FRIEDEL has put together is impressive as is KELLER’s.

MARCELO SALAS RETIRES
Gosh, we hardly realized he was playing still. Yet Salas has been playing for U de CHILE .
He now has officially retired. He had some feelers in MLS but clearly some great years at LAZIO in ITALY for “EL MATADOR”.

BLYTH SPARTANS IN FA CUP
Channel surfing I caught BLYTH SPARTANS a NORTHERN LEAGUE team playing in the FA CUP second round against BOURNEMOUTH. Reminded me when I was coaching a youth team and the SPARTANS youth squad came over to take on our team of 16 year olds and the boys were home-stayed.
The 1-0 win for my youth team certainly was a confidence builder. We learned shortly after that one of their players signed as youth for Newcastle United. All of a sudden I had a youth squad with many players that felt they should be signed in England.
The beauty of playing foreign competition. That game was played at MAYDE CREEK High School if memory serves me.

    Glenn,

I watched the Bournemouth/Blyth game yesterday and that is what professional football is all about. Seeing a group of guys who have no business that deep in the FA Cup playig well and earning a replay was amazing. It was also really cool to see the traveling party, all 382 of them make the trip. The commentators were saying that the Blyth Stadium holds 800 people and at their first round FA Cup upset over Shrewsbury, they had over 2500 people there. It was just an awesome sight and one I really enjoyed watching.

I want to see Dynamo play Atalante Glenn. We need to take a road trip down to Cancun, especially in February. Maybe I can get the assistant coach to coach a game or two while I am gone.

Lastly, I find it amazing that you didn’t make mention of the biggest match of the weekend, and that is Chelsea and Assenal. Top of the table Chelsea will show why they are the best team in the world today against the gooners. I am predicting a 2-0 Chelsea win with goals from Ballack and Anelka!

Hope your Thanksgiving was great. High School tryouts start Monday, and the State rankings are out on the TASCO Website. A lot of greater Houston teams are ranked, which shows that we are starting to make a move against the Dallas teams. Check it out when you get a chance.

    Coach H
