Manchester United vs. AC Milan in Champions League today

The Soccer Hour Cristiano RonaldoThis is one not to be missed. The greatest league in the world and the greatest players collide today on ESPN2 at 1:30.
Questions sourround Manchester United who are hurting injury-wise. Check out this list of players who are missing this critical first leg: Rio Ferdinand (groin), Gary Neville (ankle), Nemanja Vidic(collar bone) and Mikael Silvestre (shoulder). United is hurting at the back and are expected to put together the group of Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher, John O’Shea and Gabriel Heinze to contend with AC Milan. With tons of changes at the back how much importance is placed on the play of veteran goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar?
This is youth versus experience today and United’s success hinges on outstanding attacking performance from Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, and Ryan Giggs.
As for AC Milan knowing that they have lost out on the Serie A title to Inter they have additional incentive to win a 7th European crown. Wealth in midfield with Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattusso and Brazilian Kaka has to be cancelled out.
Renaissance man Paolo Maldini at 39 year’s of age remains the symbol of the club and they are looking for success against United who only have a 13 man senior squad.
Today’s first leg will go a long way towards determining who shows up in Athens, Greece on May 23rd.
Give me your thoughts on today’s match at Old Trafford.

I’m going for a Milan win away from home. Away goals are very critical in this tournament, and for Milan to be successful, they have to find the back of the net.

It is a dream match between 2 European Giants.
Milan pretty much only have the cup tied Ronaldo unavailable, but having a fully fit Filippo Inzaghi, Alberto Gilardino,in-form Seedorf,Pirlo and one of the great talents in football, Kaka!

Let me not count away Manchester completely. Injuries have left Manchester devoid of players, but with Giggs, Ronaldo, Rooney, and a young & hungry midfield..what more do you want?

    Rossoneri for the win!

What an entertaining game, yes Kaka´s 2nd goal came after a huge mistake from the defense, and Dada should habe been close to the post in Rooney´s goal, but all in all a very entertaining ghame, 5 goals, lots of opportunities, some great saves by Dada.

Glenn I wanted to know your thoughts on snd slso had some questions about the play where Ronaldo and Pirlo slid off the edge of the pitch off into the drainage ditch and collided with what appeared to be an exposed piece of concrete.
1 are most pitches designed this way or is this generally an english design.
2 dont you think with the amount of money players are worth that they ought to have it at least padded there (I understand the necessity of the sloped edge and ditch)
The only reason I raise this question is because Pirlo seemed quite upset with it.
thanks again keep up the good work

I’m still going for a Rossoneri win at San Siro.

I mentioned Kaka in my first post. Well the wonder boy of Italian football did serve his name right. What individual brilliance on both of his goals.

2 goals for Milan away from home. That right there could be the difference when they play at home.

Something tells me today game will also be great, I donpt know who do I wantto win, my first Premier League game was at the home of Liverpool, I have never felt like I felt when hearing everyone sing you´ll never walk alone, I got goosebumps, I can never hear that song again without getting goosebumps, but I have always liked Chelsea, the underdogs that became great, thay have won the last 2 league championshipns and are only 3 points from Manchester this year.

When you walk through a storm, keep your chin up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the Storm there’s a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind, walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
    And you’ll never walk alone.
    You’ll never walk alone.

    jarrambide.
I’m a huge Liverpool fan. I think no team is more supported by their fans like Liverpool . Remember Istanbul? The sheer amount of fans, willing their team to come back from behind and win? Their song is legendary, although copied these days from teams such as Celtic. Its one of the reasons, teams dont like playing at Anfield.

Away goals are critical. Although a win would be perfect, it still doesnt support you on the 2nd leg. So Liverpool just needs to be dominant as possible.
