Fox 26 in Houston broke the news that Houston Rockets owner Les Alexander is interested in purchasing the Houston Dynamo. The Dynamo are currently owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group, Brener Group and Oscar De La Hoya and “Golden Boy”.
The deal would include BBVA Compass Stadium control and Alexander it seems is looking to buy the AEG 50% portion of the club.
Both AEG and MLS have talked about local ownership in Houston to avoid conflicts like last year’s MLS Cup where both AEG teams the Dynamo and Galaxy were pitted in the final.
Let no one forget, Phil Anschutz kept this league afloat in 1999 and 2000.
Local ownership has always been a consideration and that is what Alexander would bring.
Would this be the right local ownership?
