So it is off to Nashville as the United States takes on Trinidad and Tobago.
Now what am I missing here? Nashville? With all due respect I would love to see a World Cup qualifier here in Houston.
This one would have been perfect or is it that all the “Soca Warriors” would turn out and U.S. fans would be overwhelmed as we lose our home field advantage.
So what changes would you like to see in the U.S. lineup against Trinidad and Tobago? Keep an eye on how many minutes Brian Ching gets in this game.
Mexico fans how will the “tricolore’ deal with Honduras?
Sleeper game: Spain goes on the road to Turkey unbeaten in 30 games. Turkey in an upset in this one.

United States win 4-0 and Mexico beats Honduras 1-0 in a surprising upset.
Pearce has to go, shouldn’t even be on the active roster. Torres and Altidore deserve half a game each if not a start! Beasley needs to wake up or he’ll be joining Sacha soon, who btw, has literary shut the door on his own face and let Jose Fransisco Torres come in and demand his spot!
Here is the way I would like to see the lineup
GK: Howard
RB: Hejduk CB: Gooch CB: Boca LB: Spector
DM: Bradley
RM: Donovan CAM: Torres LM: Dempsey
FW: Ching FW: Altidore
Now I’m only putting Hejduk there because he has been hustling, but if De Merit or Edu can play it, I’d go with any of them ahead of Frankie, sorry but he won’t do anything but getting burned at SA! Normally I would ask for Marvell Wynne at RB, but he isn’t in camp.
This should be the bench:
GK: Guzan
DF: De Merit, Bornsteain, Califf
MF: Edu, Adu and Beasley
FW: Eddie Johnson
This is realistic, leave Sacha, Pearce and Pablo on the bench, no need for 3 DM’s and Pearce is just aweful, I would rather play Beasely on the LB and Spector at RB, but I doubt Bob will do this?
Correction leave De Merit out, there should only be 7 subs, so Pablo, Sacha, Pearce and De Merit on the bench!
Agree with you on the location Glenn, this would have been a good fit for Houston, but we have that wresssling thingy here this week. Should be an entertaining day in WCQ. In other news, 35 Year old Gregg Berhalter has finally made the move back to the US. 1860 has terminated his contract early (was through June this year) and he has signed with the League. Can you say LA with Berhalter and Sanneh in the Defense? That should be an interesting experiment.
I don’t know why they are playing in Nashville, hell I don’t know why in LP field, they played there last WCQ cycle and got decent crowds, but from what I have heard on ticket sales, I can’t believe they are playing there.
WHere would they play? Robertson? That would be pretty sad, besides Wresttlemania, I don’t think Houston has the crowd to put more than maybe 20K in Reliant for a qualifier against T&T, I think this game should of been in Columbus or Chicago, but I guess they’re saving Chicago for Honduras?
I’m still mad we don’t get the qualifiers against Costa Rica or Trinidad in LA, hell might as well have the EL Salvador game here, they sold about 9K for the game between our B team and Sweeden’s B team, so I’m sure they can manage about 18-23K for a WCQ, hell they might of gotten a split Home Depot Center but I don’t think El Salvador would make such an impact on US soil like most CONCACAF teams! But whatever! I think once Houston gets their stadium, they’ll get a qualifier in 2012 or 2013 for the Brazil WC!
US Supporters, don’t forget there will be a watchparty at the Mezzanine Lounge (59 & Greenbriar) tonight. Also, did a recap of a few of the April Fools items that the German Soccer Press has today, check it at: http://www.bundesligatalk.com/bundesliga-style-april-fools/419
I really want to see Torres get a start.
Glenn (or anyone else),
I am in Mexico City for work and I was wondering if you knew (or had access to find out) what station might be carrying the MNT vs T&T match in Mexico…….
Thanks
Shawn,
Per the local newspaper (Reforma), the USMNT game will be on Fox Sports at 5:30pm local time. Any hotel or bar with Cablevision or Sky should be able to show the game. The Mexico-Honduras game is not on until 7:30pm local time.
I was going to start up my “Gringo” Torres campaign but with Sasha’s endorsement vs El Salvador, I am left with very little to do. The only reason people finally realized Sasha can’t play is b/c the US was losing. Thats why he didn’t receive any bad critiques vs Sweeden or Mexico.
Ladies and Gentelman your starting midfielder Jose Francisco Torres.
P.S. Ching will go 90min. if Altodore doesn’t start he will sub for Dempsey
Shawn – I was in Mexico City for the Dynamo’s last concacaf game, and was able to catch it on ESPN at one of the hotel bars. (It was on the local ESPN, not Deportes, which I believe is only broadcast in the US.) If you’re in a big hotel with a concierge, ask them about it. If the Dynamo Concacaf game was broadcast, then surely the WCQ will be. I had no luck trying to find the MExico City equivalent of TV Guide, and I looked in all of the DF newspapers, too. I wish I could be more help, but I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding the game. FYI the hotel bars had more channels than my room did…
Shawn, try Galavision, although I’m not even sure if that is an actua channer in Mexico?
If not, ESPN Deportes should have it, if those fail, try logging on to espn360.com, they stream a bunch of games, and the US games are always on simultaniously as they are broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2.
If all fails, go to justin.tv/directore/sports and find someones stream!
Damn, always making typos on website addresses, its actually justin.tv/directory/sports
Thanks Edwin. I justr found out there is an English pub down the street from the hotel……hoping they will have the game on. Atleast I always have the net streams!
Having been down on the field in Nashville after the Titan’s Music City Miracle/city celebration, here’s why it’s in Nashville: large stadium, ample parking, just across footbridge walks [across the Cumberland River from downtown], green grass, wide, flat pitch AND IT’S NOT ROBERTSON [sandbox] OR RELIANT [too narrow] OR RICE [wooden bench seating]!
At the very least, Bradley needs to start Torres and minimum, bring Adu in as a sub. Oh, and start Jozy. Mexico will get at least a tie. I don’t think they’ll lose.
ROFL, Chistopher my high school played a playoff Football (NFL) game there back in 1999, is it still turf? Funny about the wood benches though!
Releant is being used anyway, no way they can have this at Sandbox, I mean Robertson!
Hint, Hint El Franco Lee & Sylvia Garcia, Downtown stadium would of been full for this one!
