INTER MILAN defeated CHELSEA 2-1 in Champions League play today from the San Siro Stadium in Milan.
Scoring summary:
INTER MILAN- 3rd minute Diego Milito (great ball movement on this sequence from Inter with Milito turning defender John Terry like a top and then finishing. How often do you see Chelsea carved up like this…not very.)
CHELSEA- 51st Salamon Kalou (a seemingly soft shot from the top of the box that clearly was a goalkeeping error from Julio Cesar. Nevertheless an important equalizer at the beginning of the half. At this point I thought Chelsea would begin to find their game)
INTER MILAN- 55TH Esteban Cambiasso ( A great response and a game winner)
Chelsea had the better of possession but were rarely dangerous in the last third of the field and much of it came when Mourinho began to defend deep. Lucio and Walter Samuel as centerbacks were excellent and took away Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka. Anelka ended up dropping deeper and deeper into midfield and away from goal.
What could be a big loss is Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech who after routine ball had to be stretchered off and Hilario came on as his replacement. If Cech is injured seriously, this could be a huge area of concern for Chelsea .
STUART HOLDEN GETS 90 minutes but BOLTON crushed by SPURS 4-0 in FA Cup replay
Stuart Holden finally got his debut for Bolton but they were defeated 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
This hammering was in the cards from the start if you read into the comments of manager Owen Coyle who is not prioritizing the FA Cup but prioritizing EPL survival. Bolton currently sit in the relegation zone.
With so many changes this result was a distinct possibility and a focus on the EPL…………….
Hoping to see Dynamo players Brian Ching, Geoff Cameron and Brad Davis get a game tonight against El Salvador.

I had a crappy feed but Stu looked good, especially as the game went on. Nice feeds in and great pressure in defense but Bolton is a bad team. He should make the bench this weekend if not start.
Thanks for the update….and good to hear Holden had some positive moments.
Ching looked pretty decent and will definitely be on the roster for the Netherlands game. He was instrumental in both goals. Everyone else last night shouldn’t be going to South Africa.
What happened to the stadium news? Oliver said the next 72 hours was crucial (last Thursday). No news. I hope no news is good news but I hope the Dynamo are not being lead on a goat rope.
Check out the tv show today where Oliver is interviewed .
Glenn,
After seeing Ancelotti’s starting XI yesterday, I wasn’t completely surprised at the Chelsea loss. I still believe the Blues can overcome and go through because they are one of a handful of top teams that can succeed w/their depth. But in their current state, it will be an uphill struggle, though they are still well positioned w/an away goal.
Fact is Petr Cech is a shell of the keeper he once was and John Terry is no longer the iconic defender he was either. So as strong as Chelsea are, they are vulnerable. As one of the only fit defenders available, JT’s off the field issues have clearly affected his play. Chelsea’s back line has been gutted by injury and it shows. Ivanovic has been a fine backup but with no Bosingwa, Ashley Cole, Zhirkov (Cole’s backup), Alex, not to mention Essien, they can handle mid-table types but they will likely struggle against the top teams in Europe unless they recapture the offensive explosiveness they had earlier in the year. Florent Malouda has been one of our most productive forwards this season but with Joe Cole playing worse than Steven Gerrard these days, he was slotted in to start at left back yesterday out of desparation, making way for Salomon Kalou. This move weakened Chelsea’s offense and defense.
Hopefully Chelsea can run some starters through the M.A.S.H. unit and spoil Mourinho’s party in the return leg at Stamford Bridge.
