It’s amazing how many high profile games have come to Houston since 2003.
Soccer fans have taken in both the U.S. Men and Womens National teams, Mexican Men and Womens National teams as well as Interliga and the Gold Cup in 2005.
Couple that with MLS playoffs, the Barcelona tour, and the Copa Tejas that featured Everton and we are pretty fortunate as soccer fans.
The Gold Cup will come once again this summer of 2007 featuring the top National teams in Concacaf. Reliant Stadium has once again been chosen and Houston clearly now is being considered for every major soccer match that is put on the table.
Another reason why a soccer specific stadium for the Dynamo and the sport needs to be built.
“As we saw in 2005 Houston is a fantastic city for soccer and Reliant Stadium is one of the country’s finest facilities. The best attended game of the Gold Cup 2005 was played there and we are all looking forward to the games it will host in 2007,” said Chuck Blazer the General Secretary of Concacaf.
The game Blazer was referring to was the Mexico/Jamaica game.
