Giles gets first as Dynamo defeat FAS/ Some burning thoughts

Former Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes got his first Dynamo goal and they cruised against FAS of El Salvador at BBVA Compass Stadium 4-0.
Bobby Boswell and Cam Weaver (2) also scored goals for the Dynamo who fielded a lineup intent on resting other key players for their match-up against the Philadelphia Union this Sunday.
This win was important as the Dynamo now will face Olimpia of Honduras in October for the right to move on in the Concacaf Champions League!

Critical playing time was gathered for players like Tyler Deric, Giles Barnes, Kofi Sarkodie, Adam Moffat, Warren Creavalle, JeVaughan Watson and others in meaningful competition .
Dominic Kinnear got a result and opportunity for his full roster which only bodes well in the future.
Can Barnes be a bit of a factor down the road in league play? It would be a real bonus.

PHILADELPHIA
This franchise is reeling right now in the aftermath of Peter Nowak being released. In the playoffs last year this club struggled to create chances against DC United last night on Espn 2 .
They really don’t seem to have a focal point and wanted that player to be Gabriel Gomez last night.
Their key players are defenders Carlos Valdes, Amobi Okugo and midfielder Brian Carroll.
Will Freddy Adu be given the “free role” against the Dynamo on Sunday?
Their attack with Jack McInerney, Danny Cruz, Antoine Hoppenot was busy but lacked cutting edge and rarely created chances.
This truly is a game the Dynamo should win this Sunday based on their experience alone. You can catch it on Fox Sports Houston plus as Eddie Robinson and I look forward to the call.
The Dynamo are now in 5th place in the Eastern Conference and need points.
The time is now for the club to find their late season game!!

BURNING THOUGHTS:

1.) GILE BARNES- got his first for the Dynamo against FAS. Could this player be a key factor down the stretch run now?

2.) GOT CAMERON- Check out Geoff Cameron tomorrow morning on FSC as Stoke City take on Eden Hazard and Chelsea.

3.) PETER NOWAK-lots of ugliness in Philadelphia as the former star in MLS and coach of DC United and the Union has filed a lawsuit against the club that terminated his contract. Lots of strangeness around this from “hazing” players apparently to claims that he has taken payment for player transfers.
Ugly, sad, and head scratching. All of this is public information.

4.) CHELSEA/JUVENTUS
Credit Juventus for “sticking tough” at Stamford Bridge in the 2-2 draw this week. Another rough outing for Fernando Torres so can Chelsea respond tomorrow morning.

5.) PIA IS DONE
Pia Sudhage who led the US women to Gold Medal glory went out a winner with the US women who crushed Australia in Denver. Who is the next U.S. coach?
Sundhage will coach her native Sweden now!

6.) Fans …where are they?
It was a sparse crowd at the Dynamo vs. FAS and I am beginning to get a bit concerned with the lack of attendance especially at the best time of the year in MLS. Seems only the hard core wanted to see the Dynamo in Concacaf.
Lets get out and support this club!!! Better yet, tell me why less bodies are showing up for games?

Glenn, I’ll post my thoughts on the CCL game manana, but am hoping fellow fans can help me out on something else. HDhave been playing a song, sometime before the game, last night it was at halftime. Guitar oriented, great driving beat, sounds like it could be White Stripes. Any idea who this is, and the name of the tune ?

Glenn, week night games are really tough, period. One can juggle/skip or ignore other commitments just so often. I will focus on MLS games first when I have conflicts in timing. Morning comes REALLY fast when you go to a game and get home later then normal! I HATE having to skip a game!! Go Dynamo…get those points!! BTW, excellent job Thursday PM against FAS. Very interesting to see how that goes for Houston! Have a good time calling the game with Eddie. Hope you say “AND HOUSTON SCORES!!” again and again along with 1. “Tally is bored still”, or 2. “another MONSTER save by Tally Hall!”.

Still looking for the name of the song, guys. Sounds like White Stripes/Franz Ferdinand/Jet kinda. Help a brother out.

Bright spot of the FAS game ? The work of Crevalle at defense, and the incredible workrate and deliver of Alex Dixon in the final 15 or so. Would have liked to have seen him for 65 mins.

Giles looked promising, and I kept hoping he’d take over the game more. He disappeared for awhile at one oint, and I’m secretly hoping Dom FINALLY gives someone the green light to truly play an attacking midfield position. Giles may just be the guy.

And finally Cam is starting to show some promise.
