what is sad is to me it seems that some sportsradio dj’s do enjoy the game of soccer, but it is like they are almost scared to talk about it for fear of there boss i guess or there in show partners. You are right there are plenty of avid soccer fans here in Houston (as you are well aware of i am sure), that talking soccer for a few segments would increase their ratings and expand there current listeners horizon’s at the least. i mean they cant be scared of the callers calling in talking bad cause they already do that. i have personally quit listening to two shows for the simple fact that as soon as the topic comes up all they do is spew idiotic statements. i mean come on they will talk cycling, but bring up soccer and your the goofy one. anyway take it to em tonight boys, Rocha comes in studs up one more time somebody besides Eddie needs to step up to that punk!!!

While the radio stations and hosts certainly don’t help in promoting soccer much, what have the fans done? If you want them to take it seriously and have discussion its on you. Call, have your friends call wanting to discuss the sport, force them to.
My point is that if we want the sport to grow we have to take it upon ourselves and make it heard. We can’t count on guys like Glenn to do it all on their own, and we certainly can’t leave it up to clear channel or others in control of the media. Eventually the growth of the sport will force them to take it seriously, but for the time being it is up to us.
