American striker Eddie Johnson is on his way to Fulham FC in England as his transfer has gone through. He has received his work permit after a tribunal and is expect to help the Fulham bid to avoid relegation. Johnson played his last MLS game at Robertson Stadium in Houston this past MLS season and will be expected to produce immediately.
“I have made no secret of the fact that I believe the squad lacks a certain balance in specific areas of the team and following the loss of Brian McBride to injury this is true of our strike force,” said manager Roy Hodgson.
The trade may allow Clint Dempsey to face defenses more yet alot will be expected of Johnson.
I am excited to see if he can prove himself out in the English Premier League yet am I concerned about his strength mentality. Maybe Dempsey can help him through the process. It is a known fact that Johnson was a high maintenance project in MLS. I doubt he will get coddled in England.
Lets hope he can adjust.

This is what MLS KCW and EJ needed. MLS better let them use that money to buy a great player. KCW better find a proven stiker outside the US that would play on the 31 and under team.
EJ will get better, it also helps that you have a wingman that you’ve known for a while. I think Brian McBride will have a better impact on his noggin than any sports therapist.
If he goes with the right attitude, he’ll succeed.
Wow…this is a great move for Eddie and for U.S. Soccer…feel bad for the Wizards…when we played them here at Robertson that last time, the only man who seemed on another level was Eddie…no doubt…he will have to adjust Im sure to many things including some dissent from EPL fans…I know what Im telling you…But overall Im glad for him…
On another topic, Mr. Davis…Almost every MLS team is getting stronger this offseason (at least on paper)…everyone making trades..purchases…that seem will improve their teams…and what about us? the Dynamo still haven’t made any moves other than Bosswell!!!, Im a little concerned…I know the salary cap’s an issue but we need to make some moves we have many many needs depthwise…
My concern Moises as stated in the blog is his mental strength initially in England. He will be expected to produce, to help them stave off relegation.
The move will test him as a person and a player and is the type of move that can take a player to another level maturity wise. Does he have the strenth of character? As for his play in the Western Conference final I felt he didn’t produce. Missed a clear cut chance early and seemed timid constantly dribbling back into midfield, failing to turn and take on Dynamo defenders with any passion. Drifted out wide and didn’t seem to want to go into the mix with Eddie Robinson or Ryan Cochrane.
Dynamo are in the similiar position as last year and are defending champions. THey need a capable back-up goalkeeper and an additional striker. I believe Jacqua will be back but it means the Dynamo need a DIFFERENT type of striker. One that can combine with others, is a threat off the dribble and has pace to stretch defenses. The twin target men with Ching and Jacqua can work at the Rob but on the road on larger surfaces they need a different element. Just my opinion.
I dont agree that every team in MLS has gotten better in the offseason. LA maybe, DC maybe, but not the cRapids, not Chivas, not Dallas yet, not KC, SJ will stink…Chicago maybe but they have a new coach so maybe not, Toronto no, Red Bulls maybe/maybe not with Osorio, Revs no, Columbus no. Who am I missing?
