Dynamo smack DC/ Soccer on Sports Talk 790

The Dynamo were looking for that match that could break out their goal scoring potential and found it last night.

After a nervous start at BBVA Compass Stadium which saw DC All Star midfielder Chris Pontius get behind the Dynamo three times the game would change.

THE 17th minute GAME CHANGER:

Mac Kandji after a pass from Cory Ashe would get behind DC, goalkeeper Bill Hamid would make an ill time tackle on Kandji conceding a penalty.
Brad Davis would deliver from the spot in the 19th minute for the 1-0 lead.

ANOTHER TIMELY GOAL:
DC United with ten men would then hope to get out of the half down only 1-0 but would take a dagger when in the 37th minute Luiz Camargo would hold play up near the end line giving Bruin time to drive into the box . Camargo squared his pass beautifully to the “dancing bear” who delivered the 37th minute goal.

DYNAMO ATTITUDE TO START SECOND HALF
The Dynamo came out with the attitude to attack and remain hungry for goals.
Not only did this add to great entertainment for fans but it also never gave DC United a chance to get back into the game.
The Dynamo deserve real credit for staying hungry, and desirous to score goals!

BONIEK GARCIA GETS FIRST:
The Dynamo have a gem in this signing. Boniek Garcia would get his first in the 62nd minute off a far post header that he directed back across the face of goal.
The goal would be Boniek Garcia’s first but would also effectively kill off the pysche and hope of DC United.

CHING HITS PK
Brian Ching would hit from the penalty spot in the 89th after Calen Carr was brought down to add the final tally.

SHUTOUT THREE
Third straight shutout for the Dynamo .

GEOFF CAMERON MAN OF THE MATCH
The performance of Geoff Cameron in midfield may have been one of his best.
Afforded time on the ball fans were able to see his vast array of passing skills from longer measured balls, to passes in tight areas.
Cameron may have been buoyed by the news of progress in talks with Stoke City in the EPL and this transaction could happen in the next two days.
If it does, he will have finished his Dynamo career in style.

Good win to start the 3 game homestand vs East. Conf. opponents. Great to see the killer instinct to get the goals and put the game away. Could have been 6-0, if not for the Dynamo sparing DCU from humiliation by taking the foot off the gas for the last 20 min. Loved Camargo’s hustle and little end line hesitation fake to get space/time to pass to the streaking Bruin. That was vintage ’11 Camargo. Hope to see more of that!
    Huge game vs SKC Wed.

It’s time for MLS to grow up. One of the rumblings I have heard is that MLS is reluctant to let Geoff go because they want to keep USMNT talent in the US. Talk about short sighted… I seriously doubt the Bundesliga is upset that Cisse moved from Freiburg to Newcastle. Did the EPL stop Ronaldo from going to Real Madrid? No, because they know it is all part of the business of running a team and a league. MLS should negotiate hard to get good money for Cameron, but at the end of the day, should the money be right, they have to say Yes. Yes shows other young talent that they can come into MLS and be scouted by EPL and Bundesliga and move on – as players do all over the world. I am not suggesting they sell Geoff for less than market value.
A “Yes” also means that MLS teams can make money to get more young stars into the league. A “Yes” means South and Central American young stars can look at MLS as a possible jumping point to Europe. A “Yes” means fans (like me) can see young stars and NOT just old timers who when denied the right to be on an Olympic team, actually try again for a game.
MLS can make this a three way win, or they can really screw up a young man’s chance to pursue his dreams…

Next MLS should get on the international schedule. The excuse for this is that “it is too cold” in the winters here….really? May I suggest they check what Russia has done recently, moving their season to line up with the “general” international schedule. Doing this would mean that the Dynamo would not be missing three of their four backline for every MLS game that conflicts with CONCACAF WC qualifiers. As a Season Ticket Holder, it really makes me wonder about the amount of money I am spending to NOT SEE what Dom believes is his best 11.

One area where MLS is getting better is around refereeing. (Unfortunately, not necessarily on the field – see Sr. AR lack of offsides knowledge from last night.) However, in terms of the disciplinary committee, they are taking bad behavior more seriously than in the past. Interesting that Brek Shea gets three games and Little Davey Backham one for similiar behavior… Must have been the distance that allowed for the 2 game ban difference.

Overall MLS is making small steps in the right direction, let’s hope they take another right step with the Geoff Cameron transfer.

I’ve said it countless times, Luiz Camargo is a very talented player but for whatever reason he’s holding back either from a lack of confidence, mentally he’s frustrated or something – possibly from home from his new wife and baby, or he’s still hurt? Who knows? I’m praying for the day he finally decides to be more aggressive like Boniek and showcase his skills. He has the ability to take over a game with is vision, passing ability, and ball handling skills. Partner that with Garcia’s skills and aggressiveness, Brad Davis’s ball handling, vision, and precise ball placement, and Brian Ching’s knowledge and mentoring of Will Bruin and the Dynamo will have a good offensive front. Defensively, we were solid the other day. Boswell had a good game which is great, as did Andre Hainault and Jermaine Taylor. Geoff Cameron was incredible! He did way more than what Adam Moffat has been trying to do as of late. Adam is a cool guy and all but he doesn’t command that area of the midfield the way Geoff did the other night.

glenn: without a doubt, this was the best game the Orange have played this year. What made this game so special was the long range passing. Cameron was magnificent, indicating the need for a top caliber midfielder, when he leaves. Sort of reminded me of the Dutch many years ago during a world cup. Their game was long range passing which opened up everything. Kandji terrorized DC on the wings and it opened up play for the Orange. Also, I might add, the Orange played defense like wild men. They were tight and I feel confident even with 11 men, DC would not score in this game. It was a fun game to watch.

    ASSISTS
My highlight of the game were the sublime assists.
    1. Ashe with the vision and touch to find space behind the DC backline and force Hamid off his line.
    2. Camargo with the speed to get to the endline, and the subtle fake to create space and time to feed Bruin. (I’m seeing signs of Camargo returning to ’11 form)
    3. Hainault with the perfect cross (not bad for a converted Centerback) to Garcia.
    4. Hainault with the Ashe like chip to free Carr into space.

All in all, the assists were better than the goals!
