Gorgeous day at Houston Amateur Sports Park led to an inspired, energetic training session from the Dynamo.
It’s pre-season so it looked as though two teams were out there with trialists pushing the numbers to 30 players or so.
Dynamo star Brad Davis worked off to the side on his own but at the end of practice put on a finishing exhibition that was five star entertainment.
Manager Dominic Kinnear put his team through the paces with some great pattern play finishing with delivery from wide areas that was interesting to watch.
A 3v2 drill around the penalty area was played with enthusiasm and it is clear players are staking claims to positions and or to earn a contract.
The Dynamo train tomorrow morning and then are heading to California where they take on Montreal/Brian Ching in a practice game at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
No news on the player signing front but Dominic Kinnear is expected to be on Soccer Matters and Dynamo All Access tomorrow night as well as gk coach Tim Hanley.
U.S. under 23 coach Caleb Porter, Megan Rapinoe are also expected to guest on the three hour shows that go from 8-11pm cst due to basketball conflicts.

DC United signs Brazilian Marcelo Saragosa, SJ Earthquakes sign Columbian Tressor Moreno, Edson Buddle returning to LA… Sure wish I was hearing something out of the Dynamo front office…
Glenn,
knowing that the Dynamo are going to be in direct contact with Montreal in the next few days does that give any better leeway on making a trade for the face of the dynamo. Sorry to keep bringing it up but Ching is my favorite player.
I would imagine the close proximity could spur talks or discussion.
The $425 K salary is the issue here against salary cap, time running out on Montreal who I don’t believe were in earnest when acquiring Brian. What is best for Montreal right now is the question?
Ching has had an outstanding career and has fought through adversity and difficult injuries to become a great player.
I will be really upset if we resign ourselves to stumbling through until July again before we fill out our roster. I would even be ok if they said, “We’re not getting a winger because (insert player: Sarkodie?) has flat out won the position. But if we don’t get a striker before the season starts it really will put a damper on what should be the most exciting start to a Dynamo season so far. It doesn’t have to be a “DP.” Costly would do. Just fill out the roster so we can come out of the gates ready to go.
I agree with all above. Where, oh where are the signings we were promised by AEG? I think many of us are not happy (being nice here, guys) with the ownership not following through on DPs and support for major signings. Dynamo must do something to help negate the apparent negative view of Houston. I, for one, am tired of seeing the “other 2 coasts” get DP after DP, major signings, etc.
AEG should get out of the way for owners willing to really support the Dynamo and not leave us as
an ignored asset while they pour all the $ / support to the GALs.
I am Orange to the core but paint me blue over this whole issue. The ownership is tying the hands of Kinnear and co who still do amazingly well in spite of them. No credit to the owners.
R Sey, it’s not just the other two coasts. Remember we failed in our attempt at Omar Bravo and then he ended up signing with Kansas City.
