The New York Red Bull continued their hot streak defeating the Dynamo 3-0 today a game you could have seen on Telefutura.
The afternoon game took place on the artificial surface at Giants Stadium and for me was almost unwatchable on television with the lines and NFL logos all over the field. The Red Bull put together another solid performance and deserved their win.
Goals from JUAN PABLO ANGEL in the 8th minute, DANE RICHARDS in the 26th and MIKE MAGEE in the 60th provided the difference.
ANGEL produced a powerful header off a DAVE VAN DEN BERG cross. This combination is one of the better options the RED BULLS have. Simply good crossing and finishing. ANGEL had a run at the delivery with DYNAMO defenders glued to the ground.
RICHARDS is a former SAN JACINTO COMMUNITY COLLEGE player and scored his first goal of the year after getting in behind captain WADE BARRETT to make it 2-0 off a long ball from SETH STAMMLER.
Goal number three came from a 55 yard ball from the left back position that caught EDDIE ROBINSON and MIKE MAGEE beat him and PAT ONSTAD for the final goal.
DYNAMO resume practice on TUESDAY and will entertain CUAUHTEMOC BLANCO and the CHICAGO FIRE on SUNDAY night.

I’m not sure you can take anything positive out of today’s Dynamo game. Other than no one in card accumulation trouble picked up a card. It’s hard to point to any performances that were above mediocre.
The defense struggled with Richard’s and Magee’s pace and just didn’t seem to be on the same page and communicate well today (poor backpasses, missed marking, etc.). Robinson shocked me today and I wonder if his injuries are still bothering him but he made more mental errors than physical ones.
Of course, it showed that we play on turf less as we misjudged and mishandled several balls that we anticipated less of a bounce or roll on – I think that the Giants Stadium turf is either shorter or bouncier than the Gillette and Toronto turf fields as the ball was a real pinball out there today.

The team played uninspired and sluggish. Whether it was from the field turf, the fixture congestion or simply getting outplayed, we didn’t deserve a win. If it’s a matter of us playing too many games (3 in 8 days, come on MLS), how are we ever going to survive the Champions League? It’s definitely a sobering letdown to get blown out by a team like RBNY.
