So by now you may have heard that the DYNAMO have signed a back-up goalkeeper.
TALLY HALL a 6″4 205 lb goalkeeper has been signed from ESBERG FB in DENMARK.
This signing could be more important than one can think as insurance for PAT ONSTAD .
Could HALL become the goalkeeper of the future in Houston?
One thing to note is that this is a YOUNG goalkeeper who played sparingly in DENMARK.
In fact he only played in two games. He spent time also at the BOULDER RAPIDS RESERVES in COLORADO prior to his DANISH adventure.
ONSTAD has become a model of consistency and who is to think he will not produce again?
Then on the other hand a young goalkeeper with good qualities that can be groomed seems a move looking towards the future.

*DERO gets 4 year deal……….
So now you know the reason DD was a bit silent. Because he was working on his deal in Toronto. His four year deal replaces the two year one that was negotiated while he was with the DYNAMO. His 51 goals and 42 assists now in Toronto who will be hard pressed to sourround him with the right players…….DERO will join me on DYNAMO ALL ACCESS this coming TUESDAY from 7-9pm so mark your calendar. The Dynamo have expressed interest in getting ADRIAN HAINAULT a central defender signed…

Well I am certainly relieved that the Dynamo got a backup to Pat. Glenn, you know I was really hoping for Zach Wells to come back, and thought it a possibility since DC is carrying 4 keepers into pre season, but c’est la vie, my guess is that he would have been a little pricey for a backup. Tally Hall sounds promising. At 6′ 4″ he will certainly be more of a physical presence than Mr. Caig was. I understand that he was in the running for the Herman award as a collegiate, so this could be a good move for the future. With no Reserve league I wonder how he will get game speed experience.

  3. Alex says:

Sheva is done, we don’t want him.

Alvarez is an interested case for the US team. He got screwed in the turmoil in Dallas, but hasn’t lit up San Jose. He’s an ambitious guy and with a chip on his shoulder this year (like Kenny Cooper last year) Alvarez will be even better.

  4. Lee says:

Ha! Well said, Kirk! Very glad we have a back up goalie. Hope he is the same quality material as Mr. Onstad. I am hopeful…now how about a striker or 2 to add to the mix??? Any news there?

  5. Travis says:

I would take Sheva in a heartbeat but there’s no way that’s going to happen. His name alone it going to inflate his fee… Dynamo Kiev will overpay just go get him back in the fold. I wouldn’t agree that he’s done, though. I bet he’s got more in the tank than Freddy Ljungberg at this point.

  6. Offebacher says:

Interesting choice in Hall, but I think he has potential. Sheva could well be another Angel as a MLS quality Striker, but right now still to much Market worth for MLS to afford. As for this weekend: So much to pick from but I will check out UNCAF Cup, SA U-20’s, FMF mixed in with some of the Cup games from Europe.

  7. Marco says:

I\’ll watch the U.S. vs. Sweden on Saturday, as well Mexican league play.

  8. Travis says:

I like the potential of this backup keeper. Now it\’s time to focus on a striker and sort out the back line. Weekend plans entail US/Sweden on Saturday and then catching the replay of Arsenal/Cardiff on Sunday.

  9. wren says:

Sheva is still serviceable by MLS standards but he is not DP quality. If he couldn’t produce w/Chelsea and Milan’s talent around him, I doubt he will shine in MLS at this stage of his career. But on the right club and in the right formation, he can still do some damage against some pretty poor MLS defenses.

  10. Jon says:

I don’t think Sheva is right for us. If the price is right, I’d be interested. But the Dinamo (Kiev) probably won’t cut our Dynamo too much of a discount and he wouldn’t be worth it otherwise.

And I LOVE the backup keeper. Though, how much scouting did the team do with this guy? Hopefully more than what occured before Caig and Caraccio came to the team. I realize that he was up for the Hermann award but does anyone remember seeing him actually play at San Diego State? It will be interesting to see him in action.

    Alex,
I think Alvarez was excellent in San Jose with Huckerby on the opposite side. A threat game in and game out that creates chances.
Yes the chip on the shoulder may just be another reason to get this kid a game.
The U.S. staff I am sure understand his unique ability and I feel need to bring him into the mix. Not sure why he wasn’t included on this go round.
