The Dynamo take on the Philadelphia Union at 3 central (Fox Sports Houston Plus) in what is turning out to be a huge three points in the fight to get an Eastern Conference playoff spot.
I have no fear the Dynamo will make the playoffs and this is a game on the road that should be won. Having called the DC Utd / Philly game on Espn this past Thursday I also realize this will not be pushover match despite playing one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.
Union players are fighting for jobs and job security in front of manager John Hackworth.
They will fight yet they struggle to create real chances and opportunity. They are a young squad with leadership coming from Carlos Valdes and Brian Carroll.
A player to keep an eye on is Amobi Okugo at center back for the Union.
This is a club trying to re-claim identity after the dismissal of former coach Peter Nowak and strange player moves that included moving Seba LeToux, Danny Califf and Farid Mondragon.
One would imagine seeing Freddy Adu get the start after only coming off the bench against DC United.
Dominic Kinnear should be able to put out a real fresh lineup in midfield and up front.
The only issue is Cory Ashe out injured which means a change will occur at the back in some form.
Expect the big guns like Boniek Garcia, Brad Davis, Rico Clark, Will Bruin and company all back in the lineup with the Dynamo continuing with the 4-3-3.
The games first goal is important as the Dynamo could really push the Philly envelope of self doubt.
