DYNAMO still searching for a striker and they will need one as it is expected to be a busy year for BRIAN CHING. The DYNAMO roster now sits at 20 out of a total of 24 players.
Remember, the reserve division is gone and the Dynamo still have two open slots for two senior players and two developmental players…..Two reserve players last year MIKE CHABALA and JOHN MICHAEL HAYDEN have survived the loss of the reserve league and are currently on the Dynamo roster heading into pre-season on Monday.
No one is really surprised about PATRICK IANNI being let go based on his salary are they?
*FIRST MIXED SOCCER GAME LEADS TO PUNISHMENT IN IRAN
Pretty common that female youth teams in the U.S. play against male teams.
I wouldn’t reccommend it in Iran. The first mixed soccer game in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution led to swift punishment on Monday to a number of individuals involved.
Islamic rules ban any physical contact between unrelated men and women. Women are also banned from attending male soccer games.
Esteghlal, a top club side in Iran suspended and fined four officials.
The male youth team beat the female youth team 7-0.
Consider the LA GALAXY situation and BRUCE ARENA their manager.
In all fairness to his “BRUCENESS” it has to be pretty difficult to be building your squad not knowing the future of your two designated players in LANDON DONOVAN and DAVID BECKHAM. Form of the two players will be the key over the next few weeks. If they play well you can bet your bottom dollar you will not see them in MLS next year.
Personally why would DONOVAN want to come back to MLS? He has already done it all and needs the spike of a new challenge, coach, pressure and culture.
BECKHAM is incessant with his desire to win as many honors as possible with ENGLAND etc. and I have reversed my position on his desire in the U.S.
Of course who is to blame him after what they put around him in LA?
U.S. SOCCER gently reminded me that the Dynamo are not officially in their ACADEMY league though it is expected they will be accepted.

Glenn –
I’ve got to go out on a limb here. I think Beckham’s coming back. While I’m not intimately familiar with the terms of the deal that brought him here in the first place, I suspect there’s still an awful lot of money on the table. Doesn’t he have an option on the 2010 expansion team or something as well?
To bail on MLS now would be a huge knock to the league’s legitimacy in the eyes of the rest of the world when his transfer was intended to bolster that legitimacy. Ultimately, I think it would devalue his brand because leaving now would render his LA experience a failure, and that doesn’t jive well with the hero image.
Worst case scenario, he comes back for ‘09, and rejoins Milan in the fall.
Donovan, on the other hand, is history. And bully for him – I may not like him, but I’m thrilled to see him succeed in Germany.
I agree with Nord that becks will be back. And I REALLY REALLY hate that Donovan is staying in germany. I know its not confirmed but I’m not the only one convinced that he’s not coming back. Reason why I’m upset about it is because that’s another american not palying in america. although I’m happy for him getting his big break over there. And although I would prefer him playing here, I really hope he has success over there.
At this time of the year I am caught up with the goings on of the Orange. I am thrilled that they have accomplished so much in so short a time. They still have 4 vacancies on their roster and Canettie has promised to reveal a new striker later this week. They may have in mind adding several players. Can’t wait for the season to start. As far as Beckham is concerned, it would be best for him to rejoin the MLS. I think he intends to. Donovan on the other hand has a little more to prove and so far he is doing it. His days with the MLS are numbered if you ask me. Glenn, do you think the Orange are bringing back Ngwenue? I would not be surprised or opposed. I think he played well with Ching when he was here. We’ll soon see. Go Orange!
First, I agree with Nord and Ramiro on Becks staying in Hollywood, I mean Galaxy. He’ll stay cuz Posh Spice wants to stay while she can. After his contract is done she won’t stop Becks from going to Italy.
Second, thanks for clearing up who were the developmental players. Do you fore see guys who weren’t picked in the draft as taking those spots or will team rumage through the USL bin.
Third, Good luck Donovan don’t forget to send a post card.
I’d like to see the Dynamo make a play for striker Jemal Johnson who plays for MK Dons in English League One. He’s young (23), pacey and has roughly equal goal and assist totals.
Hey Glenn,
My guesses: Becks comes back. Donovan stays in Germany. And really, I find it hard to think it’ll be any other way.
On another topic, now that Tam McManus has been released from Colorado, how do you think he would fit in as a striker here? He’s not the best, but better than Wondo.
First game that counts for Bayern and Donovan. They are playing a German Cup Match in Stuttgart right now. Donovan is not in the starting 11, but it is early on.
Bayern Starting lineup for this game: Rensing – Lell, Lucio, Demichelis, Lahm – Schweinsteiger, van Bommel, Zé Roberto, Ribery – Toni, Klose
Beck’s knew what he was getting into…He should show some integrity and keep his word.
Donovan kind of reminds me of Riquelme and alot of players from the mexican league. They need to get out of their comfort zone and try new challenges aspire for more.
I find it hard to believe that Beckham’s wife would want to stay in LA. Those trashy magazines and gossip rags dumped on her all the time about her appearance, her clothes, her glasses, her driving, where she shopped and who she hung out with. I would tell them all to stick it and go home. These are ultra wealthy people who do not need income from MLS. He could stop playing tomorrow and live a life of luxury till he dies. The American public was ready to pounce on this couple before they ever landed.
And in Min. 67 Donovan replaces Luca Toni. Game is well out of hand at this point but now he can play against BL players. Good Luck.
For anyone that believes Posh is starstruck by the glitz and glamour of LA, Milan ain’t exactly Tomball.
Beckham is gone. His body language and hell, his language LANGUAGE indicates that he’s enjoying football in Italy w/a quality cast and organization. It was a different when he wasn’t in the England NT mix but clearly LA is in the way of his World Cup ambitions. He’s not an automatic selection for Capello and England and he wants to represent England in South Africa FAR MORE than he wants to slog through another season of MLS. He knows if he’s not on the continent, he’s a forgotten commodity a million miles away on the Galaxy train to nowhere.
David Beckham doesn’t need money and he doesn’t need MLS. In fact, if he didn’t have plans on pulling his Galaxy rip cord, he could have ended all this speculation in a 10-minute press conference morning but HE HASN’T. Its disgraceful that he’s letting Milan and Ancelotti do his dirty work through the press. If he’s not man enough to sac up and come clean w/the legions of his American fans, mostly kids btw, then I say bugger off!
Donovan’s performance was aveage at best, I’m a Donovan fan too, he had 2 shots, one was a nice mid air volley off his left foot that went right to Jans Lehman, the other he could of done better, Ribery set him up with a beauriful lay off a yard outside the penalty box, he tried to quickly punt the ball?? Causing it to curve from left to right, when he should taken the step or two needed to adjust his feet and rip it spinning from right to left to curve it past Lehman, could of been a big splash, I think he was nervous. Becks will be back, too much at stake in his image and rep, LA has a rediculous buyout clause, and Posh wants nothing to do with Italy, she already dealt with the kids being in Spain doesn’t want them to adjust to another language. Margo, believe it or not, the attention that Posh& Beckham get in LA, is no where near what they got in Europe, he at least isn’t as recognized by any single person, the harrasment in Europe is worst! I think Donovan will be back even if he impresses enough to make FC Bayern to buy him, LA needs him, I see them keeping him till after the Gold Cup, then selling him, after him scoring a ton of goals in the 1st half of MLS, getting 5 or 6 US qualifying matches, and the Confeds cup under his belt! Then in the summer window, when clubs will spend more, and more clubs will want him, then he will be sold!
Sorry fellows but I agree with wren, that beyond all of the glamor and endorsements Becks is still a soccer player not some international spokesman, he\\\’s not in the league building business. He is also not an ambassador to the sport like Pele is because has not done it all!
I think Beckham wants to have one last hooray in 2010 with England and he knows that being at AC Milan will do that for him. And in fact I\\\’d say that being at AC Milan and performing as a solid player on a team of this caliber will do him far more justice to his \\
