Interesting story-lines and match-ups abound in Olympic soccer. To see young talent blossoming and identified is interesting. Are you interested and have you been following the tournament?
Here are the match-ups for Olympic soccer in knock-out phase:
MENS
Great Britain/Korea
Brazil/Honduras
*Winner’s of above matches meet in semi-finals.
Mexico/Senegal
Japan/Egypt
*Winner’s above matches meet in semi-finals.
WOMEN
Great Britain/Canada
USA /NZ
Sweden/France
Brazil/Japan
Some tremendous match ups on both the men’s and women’s side.
Still can’t see the U.S. women losing unless it is self-inflicted through a poor performance.
On the men’s side Brazil is the clear favorite, Senegal will be very difficult for Mexico and I can see El Tri having real problems against them if they can’t get their possession game established.
Team GB on both sides has the passion of large crowds behind them and they have lived up to the moment so far.

Olympic soccer would interest me if the USA were involved. Slightly. But after the Euro 2012 and with the MLS season in full swing, I welcome the break from the rest of the soccer world. I’m much more interested in the upcoming EPL season, the MLS playoff races, and the upcoming NFL/NCAA seasons than I am the Olympics.
