So we are down to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League after the draw on Friday:
*Stuttgart vs. Barcelona…………………unlucky for the Germans.
*Olympiacos vs. Bordeaux………………Bordeaux not one of my favorite wines
*Inter Milan vs. Chelsea…………………what a match-up!!! The “special one” wants this one over his former team Chelsea.
*Bayern Munich vs. Fiorentina………… Louis Van Gaal’s squad playing better as of late and near the top of the table.
*CSKA Moscow vs. Sevilla………………Top Russian squad vs. Spaniards
*Lyon vs. Real Madrid…………………..Another great match-up and one that should trouble the “Galacticos”.
*Porto vs. Arsenal———————–Arshavin, Arshavin and Arsenal should prevail
*AC Milan vs. Manchester United……..Can’t wait to see this one and if Ronaldinho and Pato can live up to Rooney and United. Leonardo vs. Sir Alex
What are your thoughts on the draw?
SHOT DOWN
An assistant coach for Indios of the Mexican football league was shot to death in Ciudad Juarez. Pedro Picasso was found dead in a store that sells cell phones.
The 34 year old becomes a statistic in a city that 2400 people have been killed this year.
OTAMENDI to Real?
Velez Sarsfield defender Nicolas Otamendi is making it clear he would love to be the replacement for Real Madrid central defender Pepe who is out for the rest of the year.
Otamendi is saying that he would love a transfer to the Galacticos in the Madrid newspaper AS.
GIGGS forever
Ryan Giggs signed a one year contract extension that sees him a Manchester United player until the end of next year. Giggs has never player for another club and is 36 years old. Giggs is the only player to have scored in every Premier League season since it’s inception in 1992. He also is the most decorated EPL player of all time winning 11 EPL titles.
Not bad work!

Glenn did you catch the FIFA Club World Cup final?
It was very worthy of the prize, Estudiantes played a very tight and organized game the 1st half and got one lucky break after their counters had come close but denied in the last 10 meters, then in the 2nd half it was an all out assault on Estudiantes, Pep even went with his 3 forward and Pedro off the bench for most of the 2nd half, young Barca youth product Jeffren Suarez was the difference maker, how many guys can this coach keep bringing up and have them answer? He already has Pedro surpase Bojan who was supposed to be the next star but is only 19!
Great combination of Zlatan and Gerard Pique to get Pedro in position to bloop his header past the Argetine keeper, then Alves finally served the ball well enough to allow Messi to come from behind and literary Chest it in!
6 titles for 09 Glenn! Barca have won everything and this one was without Iniesta the other half of the midfield machine that is the Spanish Duo!
Great game to start the day, and before that Liverpool lose at Portsmoth and Dempsey helps Fulham crush ManU 3-Nil!
Arsenal took a while but is beating Hull, no Jozy has me a little ticked off!
Beasley scored and assisted again in a 6-1 blowout of Motherwell!
Thoughts?
IT is pretty amazing but a testament to the way they play also that allows players to seamlessly fit into their team and system.
Ingrained philosophy…..I am going to watch some of these games tonight that I have taped….looking forward to it Edwin.
Thanks for the update!!!
The influence of Johan Cruyff all over Barca……
Glenn- See the coaching merry go round that is the EPL is at it again. City fires Hughes. You need a dry eraser board to keep current.
So money driven and based on instant success, truley laughable.
