It will be a re-match of the 1998 African Nations Cup Final when Cameroon and Egypt meet at 11 Central time this Sunday.
Egypt pre-vailed in 1998 and have been the surprise of the tournament in some ways. Their tight, quick passing possession oriented game crushed the Ivory Coast 4-1 in the semi-finals. Meanwhile Cameroon got past the host nation Ghana, no easy task.’
For Cameroon it will be the third Africans Nations Cup for Samuel Ett’o, Rigobert Song and Geremi.
Dynamo notes: The Dynamo schedule is out at www.HoustonDynamo.com, what are your thoughts on the schedule?
Does the squad have the depth again to navigate through. I would expect the Dynamo will secure Ramiro Corrales who played left back against Mexico on Wednesday night. Speaking of Wednesday night, we don’t here many talking about the fact that this game sold out on a WEDNESDAY night. Amazingly to many this game still is a blip on the radar. Post game on our 790 radio broadcast we took calls for close to an hour as phone banks were jammed. Great to get instant reaction, opinion and questions on the game from passionate fans.
*Norway the preferred place for MLS players: FC Dallas left back Chris Gbandi is heading to Norway to continue his professional career at the age of 29. Gbandi has played his entire career at FC Dallas and the Dallas Burn and has always flirted with going to Europe. A number one draft choice and former Hermmann Award winner at UCONN, Gbandi grew up playing youth soccer in Houston with the Hurricanes Soccer Club.
