Only 16,000 thousand tickets apparently have been sold for the Dynamo/Seattle match this Sunday at 2pm. Soccer fans we need to step up and make this another amazing playoff atmosphere. Sunday goes beyond a playoff match, it is an opportunity for the entire sport. Grab a friend of yours that has never been to a game and get them out.
So here is the scenario ….Dynamo beat Seattle, Chivas USA knock off LA and the Western Conference final comes back to Robertson……..So why do you think only 16,000 tickets have been sold at this point? Have our youth soccer leaders re-scheduled games? I would have thought we would have been well over 20,000 by now….I also hear that Seattle is bringing over a 100 fans to the Rob!!!
Welcome to Houston……!

im taking 1 friend who i made a fan last season and he’s taing 6 of his friends for sundays game. also, 10 guys on our HFA team are also going and most are bringing a partner. Need i say more…. DYNAMO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be there, but I´m usually there, we need all the fans that only attend a couple of games to go.
We are talking about the play offs, we are talking about a team we couldn´t defeat, a team with one of the best players in the MLS, sorry Becks, Ljumberg is worth the ticket.
We are talking about a fan base that should receive a lot of props, but we are also a great fan base, lets show everyone.
Seattle have some weird, cool looking fans, lets show them that we can also be colorful, weird, passionate.
I hope Super Dynamo will take it as a homage.

I can not go or even watch as I ave to work!!!! WAAAAaaaaaaaaa!!!! But I will have a radio to listen, don;t tell any one. BTW Glenn, how about Paker winning the popular vote for mayor? Thank God for run offs huh, though will it matter? Will we ever get a difinitive answer on the stadium??? Have you heard anything lately Glenn??? Let us know.
I’m taking 2 guys that have only been to one game before, and another one that has never been. Plus the usual group that never misses.
I don’t think there will be a problem filling the stadium. If it’s not quite 30,000, that’s ok, the atmosphere will still be electric.
¡POR SIEMPRE NARANJA!
Im not worried in the least about the attendence for the big game this weekend. Unfortunately, from having promoted a bunch of these soccer games, I know the Latino population segment is usually if not always a last minute walk-up crowd on the day of the game. I know that we want to see the ticket sales at 25,000 right now, but we still have 3 days left. Tomorrow is Forever Orange Friday (and if the mayor is as paasionate as he says he is then he will proclaim it as so). A proclaimation in front of City hall would be a nice way to urge the team onto the win, build awareness for the game, and help sell tickets.
I dont doubt for a second that the Dynamo will win. They just need to make sure that they dictate the speed and tempo of the game and man-mark on certain players. I would put a stopper on Lundberg to shadow him from midfield on down and have another clean him up from time to time. Seattle goes as he does. Take the conductor from the orchestra and they lose tempo. Also, Montero in front is a hot head, if you get under his skin he will lose his concentration real easily.
Lastly, I think the Dynamo need to rely on the fact that tey are an experienced group in this situation. I think they will deal with the win or go home situation better.
Just purchased 6 tickets for the game. Can’t wait to watch the boys put a beating on seattle. On another note, RSL just knocked Columbus out of the playoffs. Hooray!!! I’m so glad that clown Alejandro Moreno is out of the playoffs. What a mistake by Columbus not playing Schelotto in game 1 and then not starting Rogers for game 2
There are a few things going on. STYSA is still having youth games this weekend. The new State Classic League and the U9/U10 PDF are still having games so some of these kids and parents will not be there.
I think the Houston media has done this team an injustice also. I don’t hear anyone talking about them on sports radio and the theory goes, “out of sight out of mind.” They get in their own comfort zone and talk the major 3 because that is all they know.
I also think the citizens of Houston have been very spoiled since the Dynamo have come here and just think its a regular weekend for the Dynamo to be in the playoffs again for the 4th year in a row. I think the “new care smell” has kind of worn off. I think you have to have new twists every year for how many entertainment options are out there. Landin was supposed to bring in Hispanic fans but he has been a disappointed with the shape he is in. There really isn’t a superstar on this team where people kind of go to see him. I think if you look at any MLS franchise you will see those initial years where attendance is way up and then it starts to taper off. I think a new downtown stadium would change this in a heartbeat.
I also don’t think the big youth clubs are promoting the Dynamo as much as they used to because they see the Dynamo Jr. Academy and Academy being a threat to their pocketbooks. The youth clubs really don’t have a true partnership with the Dynamo.
There might be some fans that still have that sickening feeling in their stomach when the stadium was sold out last year for the Red Bull and the Dynamo got drilled. I remember that feeling and it wasn’t good but this is a new year.
The economy is still tough right now also. People are saving their money and they are also putting more hours into their jobs (to keep them) and might not have as much time to pay attention to the Dynamo.
I think there are a lot of factors but I think out of a big city like Houston, we should be able to sell this game out. I hope we do.
I’ve got a bunch. See you at the tailgate, brother.

If you are right and local clubs are threatened by the Dynamo Academy, then some of the blame lies with the FO. I was thinking about this today. The Dynamo ask for Club support but I don’t remember ever seeing a dynamo ad in my clubs sponsorship materials, nor have I seen the Dynamo take out ads supporting local clubs tournaments. The Labor day cup that they help sponsor – sure but everyone else’s, not so much. The Dynamo would do themselves a big favor funneling some $$ support to the clubs, it would come back to them in spades. A couple years ago I couldn’t go to a camp or tournament and not see a Dynamo player, now ( as much good as the players do in the community) it seems that the club reserves those types of player appearances for their own camps etc. The FO could really use someone focusing on club relations.
That said, I sent a note to my club asking why they have not sent out an email blast to the members letting them know about the game sunday and requesting that they support the local pro team. I encourage everyone else to put the pressure on their clubs as well. Lets see if Texas Rush steps up.
Oh, and for the record I called the RSL “upset” Monday. And New England will follow suit on Saturday. You heard it hear first.
by the way way to go Andy Williams. A great guy who has had a tough year.
my two freinds and i bought our tickets…and three plane tickets from seattle.
can’t wait. this should be fun. we don’t come to fight, we come to cheer.
up the sounders!
