Dynamo striker Brian Ching has inked a new four year deal with the the Houston Dynamo according to Fox 26 Sports.
Ok, I think we all knew that this is what the announcement would be tomorrow at the press conference involving Ching.
The Dynamo have done good work here to lock in Ching on a standard 4 year MLS deal and quite frankly he is deserving of the stability and guarantees that come with a longer term commitment after what he has done for the club.
“We didn’t have to do this,” said CEO Chris Canetti. “He was under contract.”
“We felt it was fair to tear up his contract and reward Brian. Few players in MLS have had the impact on their teams that Brian has had as a Dynamo.”
Ching is a three time All Star, a late bloomer with the national team and helped lead the Dynamo to two MLS Cups.
I personally have enjoyed seemed him produce in Houston and grow in stature with the general sports public.

The move is also good business from the Houston Dynamo. Lets not forget when Houston Sports legends Hakeem Olajuwon headed to Toronto and Nolan Ryan to the Texas Rangers to finish out careers as opposed to remaining in the city. The move also is interesting because it is being done before the World Cup and it could prove to be motivating for Ching in the final few weeks of the season. It is nice to be appreciated by your club and the fans have showered their applause on Ching throughout his time in Houston which began with a stunning foru goal performance against the Colorado Rapids on the return of professional soccer in 2006.

Ching is expected to make the final U.S. national team roster that should be headed to South Africa for the World Cup in 2010. The U.S. have two remaining qualifiers at Honduras and home to Costa Rica.

Great news! The weird thing about Ching is that while he is not young, he seems to still be improving. I think he\’s playing with his feet better this year than ever before. Now let\’s get Stu and Rico locked up and add a couple more stars to the crest!

Nothing would make me prouder than seeing Ching in South Africa next year. He’s worked his way there and deserves a spot. The USMNT doesn’t have another player with his abilities to hold and distribute up top, nor do they have someone with his aerial ability.

I can’t wait until the Pachuca game! Probably going to be like 2,000 people, but this can be game of the year worthy…if Pachuca and Dynamo meet in the finals can you imagine those two games? I would be willing to suffer through a Pachuca loss this Wednesday if in return I get a Pachuca v. Houston Dynamo final and the deciding leg is here….imagine the beauty…imagine the intensity….Pachuca lifting up the trophy here in Houston! I get a chill up my leg thinking about it (chris mathews allusion)! Eh forget it I would love to see Pachuca defeat Dynamo and ill go to the final myself in Tuzolandia! I’m already packing my bags….

In other news, I, Coach H, has signed a four year contract to remain a Dynamo fan. Details were not released!
