DYNAMO defender of the year BOBBY BOSWELL has re-signed. BOSWELL’s deal is the standard four year MLS package which one would assume comes with a hefty pay raise based on last years contract.
BOSWELL it had been reported was close to signing in TURKEY but one had to think coming back to the DYNAMO was never totally out of the question based on the economical positions of teams at the bottom half of the Turkish Superliga.
BOSWELL now will join new signing JULIUS JAMES and EDDIE ROBINSON in central defense and the DYNAMO could still sign Canadien ADRIAN HAINAULT who is also capable of playing there. If there was an overabundance of center-backs clearly JAMES or HAINAULT could be tried as outside backs. If Hainault now signs there would be tons of competition at the back.
The search for another striker continues.
What is your take on the re-signing of BOBBY BOSWELL?
PATRICK IANNI is on his way to SEATTLE for a conditional draft pick. Now it never seemed IANNI was coming back and most think he was already gone quite frankly. A super young man that based on performance and minutes was too costly. It will now be up to Ianni to prove his worth in Seattle……Can he develop an edge at center-back? At first I felt he had a very controlled demeanor as a central defender yet as the years went on in Houston he seemed comfortable, lacking some “fire in the belly” that puts a bit of healthy fear into opposing strikers. There is no doubt that at this stage of his career he needs games!
MICHAEL OWNEN TO GALAXY
Not buying this rumor and that doesn’t mean they may not have approached him but if he has thoughts of making the ENGLAND WORLD CUP squad I can’t see this happening.
BECKHAM to stay at MILAN?
David Beckham now has reversed his position saying he may stay at AC MILAN in the future. Seems this SERIE A venture has turned into more than just a marketing deal.

GREAT news about Boswell. I was really worried that the back line would be in disarray without his presence. Losing Ianni isn’t going to make me lose any sleep… hope things work out for him in Seattle. Shocking to see the Dynamo actually accumulate draft picks instead of trading them away. Time to get a striker signed and I’ll be feeling really good about this offseason.
Great move and news!
Great news! We’ve a boot for him to sign and shipping costs would have been a nightmare!
… And Houston has yet to see Beckham play at home
Now we just need one more signing at forward, but either way, I’m sure Dom will not disappoint.
I think that Boswell coming back is a positive. I am truly sorry to see Ianni leave because I think his upside is very high, but so was his salary.Alright Joseph Ngwenya, stop messing around and come home! Enough of this European dream, get real and get right, Houston is where you should be.
Glenn,
I hate to see Pat go, but the contract issue was too big for him to sit the bench. I am glad to have Bobby back in the center defense, because he was the rock there when Eddie went on a mental awol trip. I would like to see us sign Hainault as well, because the kid has some talent.
In regards to the Galaxy, I have also heard that they are looking to extend offers to Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Franz Beckenbauer, Eusebio, Pele, and I have even heard a rumor that they are going to dig up George Best and sign him to a 10 year, $150 million contract. My only question is, why have I not been contacted? My contract demands are just 4 years, $80 million. Uncle Phil can afford me!
Coach H
Great news about Boswell, I thought he was going to pursue that european dream. Glad he’s staying here. I’m glad ianni is getting a shot in seatler, I think he just need games to settle in and he’ll be a solid defender in the league.
Sounds like we may end up with a boatlod of potentially good defenders, never a bad thing. If past years are any indication dom will be patient finding a sloid striker, last 2 years he’s b een able to get some great pick ups mid season. At least this year we will start off in a better position than last. Kamara and Ching up front could scare some people, and Wondo or cameron off the bench will do nicely.
Boswell definitely helps anchor the defense. I do not see Ianni\’s departure as a huge loss. He was a little porous on defense on his few opportunities. I hope he flourishes in Seattle. If Beckham is getting regular playing time in the Serie A, I do not blame him for staying….a little hypocritical on his part, but I would probably do the same thing.
Newcastle would be asking 10 to 12 million pounds minimum and that is severely overpriced for a player that would spend more time at Cedars-Sinai than at the HDC…besides, what would Capello think of that?
O4, you’re missing the point though, the Galaxy would like to sign him when he is out of contract, since he hasn’t signed an extension it is believed Newcasttle is not willing to give him the type of salary he wants!, he is 30, maybe a few years too early, but he could defenetly come and impress, I don’t think he should due to the fact of how much of a hard@$$ Capello is. The Galaxy just want to sign someone who can replace Donovan, they know they can keep him past March, maybe till after the Confederations Cup, but if he keeps scoring like crazy in the beginning of MLS season, which he is likely to do since he will be coming from Bayern & in form, combined with a few WC qualifying matches, the Confeds Cup, he is sure to be gone in the summer window, a time when the Galaxy can get more for him. I think Boswell completes the Dynamo’s most important needs!
Glenn, where do you see Carlos Ruiz ending up? TFC didn’t want him I’m not sure why, he could of used DeRo & Guevarra’s, who he’s friends with, great services to score like he use to.. I have no idea where he might go to, do you have a clue?
i think more to the point, is that Owen has way too much European value to come here. Being English with EPL teams still interested and National Team aspirations…it just will not happen. LA can throw all sorts of names that they would like to get, but in reality as long as a player has the legs and first team ability, his first priority will be European football.
Beckham can stay if he wants. So much for living up to his word.
I knew C.Cannetti was talking about re-signing Boswell on his mydynamo.net blog…
If my insticts are right again, the other signing will bring Ngwenya back to Houston….
Let’s do it!!!!
BTW..Honestly everyone…What would you have done if you’d played at LA last year, with all those dummies they had there…then all of it sudden you’re playing next to Kaka, Pato, Ronnie, Seerdof, Gatuso…should I go on?…
I don’t blame Becks…he seems so much happier and having fun out there than he was here at LA…
I know he might’ve wanted to grow the sport here in the US…but if playing there makes him happier, then Im all for it…
Happy players create great football!!! Just remember that…
The Galaxy addressed that, if he wants to stay in Italy, AC Milan, or Beckham himself would have to pay a redicolous buy out fee, remember, he may be getting 5 million from LA a year, and 45 million more in endoresements, but even with the Galaxy not even having a full good season and not making the playoffs, he makes far more money for them, filling up stadiums, selling jerseys, etc. Besides, he gets to flirt with the Laker Girls all game long when comes to Laker games and sits on courtside seats, he has made it a habit to not miss a game if he home, and not playing, I think he even went to Laker game and then played for the Galaxy?
LA just wants someone of quality, I think they should of never let go of Carlos Ruiz, but Arena seems to not like him??? Plus Lewis is of his type of system?
CHECK THAT SQUARE! The Dynamo’s most important offseason move has come to pass. Now we can go into battle w/a solid spine to our team. Ianni was surplus to requirements and never made the turn so I’m not upset to see him move on. Everyone has a howler here and there but Pat collected too many last year.
If David Beckham abandons MLS after his orchestrated Brand Beckham messianic arrival with a gutless ESCAPE to MIlan, that would make him a lying, hypocritical, two-faced, money grubbing, gutless, Euro snob punk! That’s right….I SAID IT!
As far as Carlos Ruiz, that guy hasn’t been the same since Ricco Clark kicked the quality out of him!
As far as Beckham and Milan longterm, I\’ll believe it when I see it. I think the price that Milan would have to pay is too steep for him. I just don\’t see him leaving LA.
signing Boswell is great. last year we couldn’t count on Robinson’s reliability–Boswell was the only solid thing at center-back.
when is LA going to learn that throwing a bunch of money at one player is not going to help the team become better? surrounding Beckham and Donovan with young players with no experience is not a way to build a playoff team. so then they experiment with different coaches (on number 3 now)and a new office staff. it got them a whole lot of nothing. Beckham goes and plays with quality, of course he wants to stay…it’s more fun to win. he even said after his first start that it was great to play around such players.
Agree with Marco, Beckham’s “wanting to grow the game in America” shtick worn off. Only thing he wants to develop is his own personnel wealth and market name.
Should have spent this off season here in the States promoting MLS.
Michael, even with the Galaxy’s bad season, they still filled their stadium more times than anyone else, for THE HIGHEST AVERAGE, and they also filled everyone elses stadiums, thus helping everyone out with their season average, in places like NY, San Jose, New England and DC he filled the stadium with more fans than those teams have seen in a regular MLS match! Hell because there’s teams still playing in NFL stadiums, and the Dynamo playing in a 30K+ stadium, the Galaxy’s aways average is bigger than their home average! So yeah they haven’t had the results LA fans want and are accustomed to, but they are being successful, which is why they are still interested in signing quality players. They just need to put a decent line in all 3, not just at forward and at offensive mid!
The person that will have the largest voice in where David lives and works is Victoria. The Beckhams will be back in Hollywood.
With all due respect Edwin, representing the Gals as “successful” because they won the attendance title is laughable. That is nothing more than west coast-Galaxy-Brand Beckham spin. The Gals (and MLS) made their bed so they can suffer it. They can also take the shirt sales and attendance crowns every year for all I care.
Winning silverware, (or at least making the playoffs in MLS) is football’s measure of success.
Well, yeah obviously winning measuere success, like I told you, the Galaxy have tried to put a winning team together, and they had one, unfortunately, the coach couldn’t stick it out, and the defense was just horrible, but look back, they had the best offense, even inspite of it taking a huge dip from June on… Last time I checked, no one can say anything to DC or LA about winning, as DC is the winningest team in all of MLS, and the Galaxy are second, plus the Galaxy actually has had success in the Concacaf champions cup, now CCL, Houston is an old team with a new record, so they don’t have no where near the record of LA or DC, and the Galaxy still have and will have for 10 to 20 years the record for most consecutive years making the playoffs. THey are making tons of money, and are trying to put it towards signing good players, what is so bad about that? They are getting their defenders from the league and draft, where there are tons, and getting their more offensive minded players from abroad! Look at the great Football teams in the world, this is almost always the model! We’ll see how bad the Galaxy will be this year, oh and good luck vs Atlante, I plan on going to the game! Are any of you?
