Beckham to help Dynamo ……….

During last night’s Dynamo All Access with Glenn Davis, Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti spoke of a number of interesting topics and made it clear that the Dynamo will likely enlist LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham to help them in enticing a designated player to Houston. It is no secret that Beckham played a part in helping to bring Thierry Henry to MLS and the New York Red Bulls.
AEG head Tim Lieweke has made it clear to the Dynamo that they have the resources to go out and get a designated player and he has also made it clear that he would like that player to be one that is impactful both at the gate and on the field. The Dynamo are currently putting a list of ten potentials together to submit to Lieweke.
The Dynamo also will have the opportunity to build their squad via the draft. With a first round draft pick in the MLS Superdraft in January, the Dynamo could also utilize that as a way to potential bring in a player that can be impactful from the get go from the college ranks. Could the Dynamo find another gem like Geoff Cameron. First round draft picks that come to mind this year that have grown since coming into MLS include Tim Ream of New York and Danny Mwanga in Philadelphia. Last year LA bolstered their squad with two picks from Maryland in Omar Gonzalez and A.J. De La Garza.
Canetti also spoke about the ground breaking of the stadium.

JUST A THOUGHT…….. The Dynamo attack this year has been less than dangerous overall. Strikers Brian Ching, Dominic Oduro, Cam Weaver and Joseph Ngwenya have combined for a total of 10 goals as the main stable of strikers for the Dynamo. Now to be fair, the overall service and support for strikers this year has lacked. Throw in a goal or two from Brian Mullan when he as moved up front as well.
Two former Dynamo players Kei Kamara now at KC and Chris Wondoloski at San Jose both have scored 8 goals this year. For those two, change has been good.

    Glenn,

One DP candidate that comes to mind is that Brazilian, Bare’, that ate our lunch during the game against Gamba Osaka in Hawaii a couple of years ago. The guy was lightning fast, ran right at and past our defenders, and placed his shots squarely within the frame of goal, sinking four goals against us. That would be one heck of a partner for Ching. As for the Superdraft, Soares or Sardoki, two standout defenders reportedly MLS-ready. One is a centerback candidate to learn from BB (Soares), the other a wide player that can provide service to the middle and give Ching a couple more seasons of scoring.

Either way, the team will need some key changes this year. Not a total rebuild, just enough youth to learn from people like BB, Mullan, Ching, etc. There is a lot of criticism about the FO and coaching staff not positioning us well this year. I want to believe Dom and CC are dead tired of limping along and they will learn lots from this year.

    Go Dynamo!

Bare is an interesting thought, I have to admit to thinking he would be a good pick up as well. His given name is Jader Volnei Spindler and he is currently in the UAE, still socring goals, 28 yrs old. I was at that game in Hawaii and I don’t remember him being fast , but I do remember him getting around defenders…….and finishing. Apparently his transfer fee was around 1.2 million dollars. I wouldn’t want him as a DP but it would be interesting to look into his availability. He would not be a go big or go home candidate.

No question Bare was impressive in the Pan Pacific Cup, you would have to do your current research on him, health, consistency of play, character etc. Being in the UAE as a 28 year old is interesting and would suggest further research.
The edict from the ownership group is someone that brings a bit of the “wow” factor and can effect the on and off field challenges.

Just a thought….would Craig Bellamy be a WOW type signing? With all the contraversy he has stired up it might be fun to see him in Orange. He’s 31 and seemed to play well at Man City last year.

Baggage yes, but might add some excitement to mls?
