The emails have been trickling in and something is in the works for January 16th as Dynamo fans are planning a rally at the potential stadium site near Minute Maid Park.
If you are a Dynamo fan, a soccer fan this might be a great day to get out to support a stadium.
Can the fans accelerate the process and help to bring to remind the new Mayor of an issue that is opportunity for the city of Houston in the future?

MONTERREY DERBY TONIGHT

Why not check out the doubleheader at Robertson Stadium tonight in Interliga. The feature match is a Monterrey Derby between Rayados and Tigres.
Rayados is the defending Mexican League Champions and this match will have a real Monterrey “edge” to it one would think. Oh, not to mention implications for trying to gain a place in the prestigious COPA LIBERTADORES (man I wish MLS teams were in this competition). The attendance for Interliga has not been impressive but will jump up tonight.
I won’t mention that it is on the Fox Soccer Channel either…..

DYNAMO DISNEY
The Dynamo will be headed apparently to the Disney complex again in Orlando to do pre-season friendlies against other MLS clubs during the latter part of February provided they are not locked out or on strike due to the CBA agreement. The deal runs out at the end of January and both sides are posturing. The players association wants a move towards FIFA rules around player contracts while the league is standing firm. Meet in the middle boys because this sport and league can’t afford the league being shut down.

ADU on move……ok will Freddy Adu ever get first team run in Europe. He is racking up more clubs than Arnold Palmer had in his bag. Monaco, Benfica and now Aris.
A beautiful part of Greece but can Adu flourish here and has he been guaranteed a starting role? The kid is in desperation mode to get a shot at going to the World Cup with the knowledge that he is not enough of a two-way player for U.S. manager Bob Bradley. He also was built up beyond belief when he came in to MLS and the comedown from this high has to have been a confidence shatterer. I am hoping for Freddy to do well in Greece because their is no doubt he has some good qualities. Is he a true number 10 at this level of soccer? Can he play wide and is he good enough to have a midfield built around him. The obvious answer right now is no………he is slowly even at 20 years of age fading from many peoples minds.

NEW DIGS for Dynamo…I love the address for the new digs of the Houston Dynamo…talk about an international feel. 1001 Avenida de las Americas…..in the George R. Brown convention center very close to the proposed stadium site. Can they have a merchandise store in this facility. I have yet to visit but it is in my plans.

CANCELLED….the Manchester United vs. Manchester City Carling Cup match today has been postponed due to snow . I was so looking forward to this one especially after United was eliminated from the FA Cup by mighty Leeds.

Timing is everything. On a recent visit to New Jersey to visit my 84 year old parents my mother’s appendix burst. She is being treated with antibiotics and in a few weeks will have it removed through surgery. A long night in the emergency room reminded me that the timing of just being there was important.
