The Western Conference title just became harder to win with the Dynamo 1-1 draw vs. KC.
So lets throw this on the table and talk about it!

GAME CHANGER: Cam Weaver ejection in the 13th minute should not have happened. It altered the game and was clearly a red card. The tactical plan went out the window with this decision and nothing but accountability is considered here. Last game Brian Ching and now Weaver. This are bad choices and are costly because the Dynamo are having a hard time finding consistency between a pair of strikers. Weaver now not available against LA………This game was not won or lost by a referee.

ICE BROKEN BY LANDIN…Luis got his first in a Dynamo uniform and that is a good thing. He clearly is not 90 minute fit so one figures to see him go the full 90 against Monterrey this coming weekend for the Dynamo charities match. Ditto maybe for Eddie Robinson also. A good thing the Dynamo organization scheduled this game.

ODURO…..Dominic we love your speed but lets face it. Finishing plays is another issue. The Dynamo had chances for a second goal in the second half during certain time periods through Oduro who came off the bench.

LOPEZ…You knew it had to come through Claudio and it did. The two time World Cup player for Argentina set up Zoltan with a beautiful pass that led to the game tying goal For KC. Lopez was at his most dangerous when he came central to make plays…

BRIAN MULLAN may just be getting back his old form and could be a key in the next couple of weeks for the Dynamo. Box to box it seemed he ran out of gas but instrumental none the less!!

OFF to the national team…that would be Ricardo Clark, Brian Ching and Stuart Holden. U.S. at Honduras next weekend and we will have to find a bar to see it.
Stags Head anyone!!

THE CROWD..a reported 16,000+ which must have been the tickets sold or out. Still at least 13 to 14 thousand were on hand . A great turnout!!!

Is this draw down to playing with ten men or was this game winnable against KC? Should we celebrate the draw or lament the missed opportunity for the full three points?

The Dynamo will take on the KC Wizards today at Robertson Stadium with kick-off set at 2pm.
The game is pivotal for both teams in different ways. For the Dynamo they now sit a point behind LA with today’s game in hand and with the knowledge they know they have the Galaxy in two weeks time. The Dynamo have not lost to the Wizards in the last 7.
The Wizards are desperate and in a must win situation yet come in with a confident streak at 3-1-1 in their last five.

Conditions will be much like playing in a rain forest today at Robertson Stadium with showers expected throughout the day plus the element of humidity.

Tactics: both teams should use a starting point of a 4-4-2 but one thing to note with KC is that Claudio Lopez does not defend so essentially they are playing with three strikers and a fourth when Davey Arnaud pushes up high on the right side. Space can be found particularly behind Lopez which puts more pressure on Michael Harrington their left back and Jack Jewsbury and Santiago Hirsig to come out of the middle to provide cover. Brian Mullan could find space in this area and is coming off one of his best performances vs. Pachuca.
Keep an eye on the opposite side of the field with Brad Davis going up against Davey Arnaud for control of that wide area.

CHING OUT…Dynamo striker Brian Ching is out so focus on the play of strikers today on this surface. The choices for Dominic Kinnear of the Dynamo include Cam Weaver, Dominic Oduro and Luis Landin. It will be interesting to see the approach. Weaver makes sense as the target man, Landin is more cultured and needs minutes will Oduro pace under these conditions could be unsettling but can he make plays?

WIZARDS have a four set of dangerous attackers with Josh Wolf (dangerous in the penalty area with mobility and movement), agressive Arnaud coming out of midfield along with Claudio Lopez the former Lazio and Argentina star who is sneaky and can make plays. KEI KAMARA will come back with motivation to play against the team that traded him.
Is he emotionally stable enough to handle the day? His prescence in the box could be dangerous.

How much football will be played today under these conditions or will it become a day that comes down to who gets the ball in the box most consistently.
Kevin Hartmann in goal for KC does not like dealing with bodies in front of him and the challenge of coming of his line so rest assured the Dynamo will look to pump balls into the box to test Hartman’s willingness to come off his line.
