There is a great story happening on the field in Dallas.
They have won 5 of their last nine and three out of their last four and are making a run at getting into the playoffs.
The club has added some players that are clearly helping the squad like Daniel Hernandez but this team is riding an in form goal scorer in Jeff Cunningham.
So why do I want FC Dallas to get into the playoffs? Because I want to see FC Dallas live up to the rivalry side of their relationship with the Houston Dynamo not to mention I would like to see Schellas Hyndman give hope to the college coach that they could one day coach in MLS.
Memo to Pablo Ricchetti…it is not a good time not to be a team player and think about yourself when your squad is winning, confident and positive.
Looks like Pablo is on his way out……..

Glenn- Ditto your comments on FC Dallas. Would think Dynamo fans would like strong ( on the field and at the gate) inter state rival.
If pro soccer fails in Dallas it\\\’s a blow to entire league and all soccer in America. A team with a soccer specific stadium that fails just gives the soccer haters and naysayers fuel to the claim that the sport is a failure at the pro level.
As far as Cunningham, has got to be the most mercurial player in MLS. Shame Dallas blew so many games earlier this season in which they had the lead.
If they had closed out just a few of them , would be playoff lock, and on recent form a team no one would want to face in opening round.
In agreement with you. I just hope the FC Dallas FO figures out how to get attendance in Frisco. They need to field a good team first of which hopefully they are turning a corner and then they need to figure out how to get people to the games.
It is tough because they already give away parking, half priced food and do all of these promotions. Nothing is working. Maybe winning is the secret.
I concur on FCD. MLS needs a good Metroplex franchise.
I’ve considered Pablo Richetti a negative for that club for several years now.
You’re such a pompous homer. After Holden and Clark are gone next year it will be Houston who needs to live up to their end.
I knew there was a reason I always thought you were a better “Davis” than the one we have in Dallas. What a smart comment. Ours has nothing but bad things to say with no solutions proposed – a 24/7 whine-fest.
Just for that, I’m gonna convince my inlaws in Spring to go to a Dynamo game. We could all use a few more fans.
Yes, Cunningham is on an incredible run, but there is a reason for that. Ferreira, VDB, and Dax Mc Carty are dominating the midfield with their foot skills. Let’s give Hyndman some credit. He continues to make offensive subs in the theory that the best defense is a good offense. Who else has the balls to do that? But first, and foremost, he has turned the slowest team in MLS into one of the fastest. Ferreira in particular is the finest attacking mid in the league right now. He’s a freaking magician. Cunny is getting the best service in the league and it shows.
It’s just unfortunate that it is probably too late. We’ll just have to live with the usual ugly MLS teams fighting it out in bunker fashion.
Pablo Ricchetti has gone from hero to zero in my book. Players on FC Dallas have publicly said that the team attitude gets better every single day (since Pablo is no longer captain) and of course winning helps. The final nail in the coffin for me was the FCD organization let him make an appearance on behalf of a charitable endeavor, even after he said he didn’t want to be part of this team…and he had the nerve to badmouth anything and everything associated with FCD. What a class act. Goodbye and good riddance.
Bard,
You missed the point unfortunately.
If FC Dallas becomes competitive on the field it can hopefully spur the organization on to becoming more relevant in the community, engaging leaders, coming up with a vision. Not to mention put more people in the seats.
A rivalry also must include fans, atmosphere and the media none of which is in FC Dallas to the levels it should be.
So yes, I am pulling for FC Dallas.
Sorry for being so pompous but I unlike you want to see the team go to another level in Dallas off the field as well as on so the rivalry in Texas becomes greater and can grow the sport and the two franchises.
The comments I made were intended to be positive even though you decided to turn it in to something irrelevant.
Glenn
Moose,
It is good that the media points things out but to pile on is detrimental.
Why is it touchy for people to question Colorado, Dallas, New York and other franchises that are struggling. Why is attendance down in Columbus.
Solutions must be proposed as well and at times they should come from the FO.
Some Dallas fans want to turn this into a Glenn Davis is piling on FC Dallas. I have brought things up in my opinion that I believe are important.
How is the team marketed? Has the olive branch been extended to the Hispanic leaders in Dallas? Are they star building the players?
IS the clinic being used as a vehicle of promotion? Why is the press coverage so poor? There are solutions.
Listen, challenges remain here in the Houston market as well and certain things must improve as well.
Glenn
Glenn,
Great note here, it could happen right?
An even in state rivalry would be great and fantastic for MLW. Let’s hope Schellas is on his way finally to righting the ship.
Man I hope you are well in H-town it has been a long time!

I want FCD to make play offs too. They have had to deal with way too much junk and the guys on that team are still playing with heart. I want MLS to grow so much bigger and that can only happen if all the teams start really getting support in their cities. Doesn\’t matter if I like them or not I support them in the MLS way because I want the league to grow! And I have a different feeling about Pablo. He really isn\’t a bad guy. Lots was happening that not many people really knew about.
Both Glenn and Steve Davis are spot on. Both are making good points. Why does everything written about a team have to be positive? This isn\’t fifth grade little league. This is PROFESSIONAL sports. If you can\’s stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Good thing those hoops don\’t play in NY (or in Rio, or Buenos Aires, or London or Rome). Some of their fans would totally FREAK out with the media. When a team is LAST in attendance, and in the BOTTOM four in the standings, and when its FO and ownership has shown its incompetence repeatedly, you cannot expect journalists to be all roses when writing about the team. Reality check folks.
