Why I want FC Dallas to succeed and make the MLS playoffs…..

There is a great story happening on the field in Dallas.
They have won 5 of their last nine and three out of their last four and are making a run at getting into the playoffs.
The club has added some players that are clearly helping the squad like Daniel Hernandez but this team is riding an in form goal scorer in Jeff Cunningham.
So why do I want FC Dallas to get into the playoffs? Because I want to see FC Dallas live up to the rivalry side of their relationship with the Houston Dynamo not to mention I would like to see Schellas Hyndman give hope to the college coach that they could one day coach in MLS.
Memo to Pablo Ricchetti…it is not a good time not to be a team player and think about yourself when your squad is winning, confident and positive.
Looks like Pablo is on his way out……..

U.S. and Honduras only on PPV

So apparently Honduras and Espn could not come to agreement on a rights fee for the U.S./Honduras World Cup qualifier in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Apparently the fee was too high for Espn. So what is a U.S. Soccer fan to do? Honduras will be difficult at home but if the U.S. get a win they would advance to the World Cup finals.
It could be a historic night!
Start making your plans to catch it on PPV, my understanding right now is that Stags Head Pub will be showing the game on the 10th……..

Lets get into last night’s late night Dynamo vs. Pachuca match at Robertson Stadium where there are Dynamo positives to glean and some concerns.
I so love the quality of these games and what each team brings out in each other. For me these are some of the most interesting of matches when the Dynamo take on Mexican club. Their is that little extra edge.
I do believe the a real positive out of this loss is the fact that the Dynamo seemed more “alive” and “aggressive’ in a number of areas than we have seen in awhile. It seems as though the off weekend in MLS did them good not to mention not having to travel recently.

The Dynamo added an additional player to their midfield against a team that was beaten on Sunday by Santos. Pachuca coach Guillermo Rivarola who is not a favorite at the moment with some Pachuca fans put out a lineup that seemed in some ways dictated by their Sunday match. Damian Alvarez did not even feature in this match for the Tuzos.

SCORE FIRST: A real key in this match was for the Dynamo to get the games first goal so as to set the tactical table. Dominic Oduro was wrongly whistled offside I believe in the first 13 minutes preventing a 1v1 against Miguel Calero. Then Brad Davis got in a great cross to Brian Mullan at the back post, Calero just got a subtle touch that altered the Mullan finish.

PACHUCA GET GAMES FIRST…goal after a cross from Rojas. Unfortunately Bobby Boswell had to leave the middle in their back through and instead of being in the area of where the ball is delivered in the middle Brian Mullan is in their and just gets beat in the air by the cross of Juan Carlos Rojas and Edgar Benitez chests it down beautifully and scores. The Dynamo responded well after the goal and created some great chances and where unlucky not to have tied things….For most of the night then Pachuca tried to conserve their running sat deep and at many times had five players across their backline.

BRIAN MULLAN showed an energy that makes him poised to make a run over the course of the final part of the MLS season. He had numerous chances (one off a great pass from Davis) and also hit the post in first half stoppage time after great Dynamo pressure which saw them recover the ball close to the Pachuca goal. Looking forward to seeing more from Mullan this Sunday against KC…….

Stuart Holden, Ricardo Clark, Brian Ching all had some moments and worked hard. Dominic Oduro was aggressive but could not produce “the play”. The final ball or final finish from the Dynamo just wouldn’t come on numerous plays. The Dynamo created chances but could not produce a goal. Pachuca would sit deeper in the second half leaving little space for strikers and making it difficult for the Dynamo to break them down. Because of their ability on the ball they had moments of possession that were timely and allowed them to collectively get a breather while trying to kill off the game………

This positive effort from the Dynamo hopefully will carry over because if it does they will have a good day against KC on Sunday at Robertson Stadium 2pm…

Give me your thoughts on the Dynamo/Pachuca match………
