WORLD CUP QUALIFYING

Argentina strings together 15 straight passes inside the first 40 seconds of their game against Brazil. At this point I am thinking they will perform well against the number one team in the world in Brazil. In the end timely finishing from Brazil including two from Luis Fabiano cuts to the heart of Argentina. This was only their second ever World Cup Qualifying loss other than Colombia back in 93 (give me five Pibe).
Brazil wins the tactical battle while Argentina frustration helps to make them unravel. When Argentina pulls one back through Jesus Datolo Brazil answers quickly through Luis Fabiano.

U.S. OVER EL SALVADOR
The U.S. beats El Salvador 2-1 at Rio Tinto. A huge three points but should this have come easier? You tell me? Who played well? Who didn’t?

Mexico right now heading into tomorrow is playing the most outstanding football and the second half at Costa Rica was an example of a confident , measure team.
Even on the concrete hard surface they put together some scintillating moments of passing and movement off the break…….Spicy match-up with Honduras tomorrow at Azteca where Mexico won’t be denied in my humble opinion……Carlos Pavon gets two goals for Honduras who defeat a poor T&T 4-1 in Honduras. Pavon couldn’t score a goal in MLS but gets them for his country….Amado Guevara also got one and Ramon Nunez played a big part in the win.

MIGHT MISS THE PARTY
Portugal and Argentina in danger of not qualifying for the World Cup. A loss against Hungary Wednesday and the World Cup will miss Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo………How were the Labor Day Youth tournaments you participated in? Well run, good events?

RELIANT STADIUM TO HOST ALL STAR GAME
It had to be Reliant Stadium quite frankly just for the overall professionalism of the event. No smack on Robertson but Reliant will give the bigger feel and will have the ancillary support that a modern stadium gives the fan. This will be a Houston Soccer Celebration next summer!!
