With the U.S. / Mexico World Cup qualifier only a week away I am wondering if many are making plans to take in the game with young players?
Let me know what your plans are if you are a youth club or camp and are focusing on the game. Over the years many have really begun to see the value in focusing on these big games and creating a “game watching” culture that encourages like minded inviduals getting together to take in the game and more importantly putting a focus on the match by canceling training or games. In this case the 3:00pm kick-off could be favorable for those to still get out and play or train in the evening.
What are the plans? You tell me and are you organizing them now?
Time for us to think ahead about planning to watch U.S. / Mexico World Cup qualifier!!
Argentine first division to delay start to season/ Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid while Messi hits the “Space Needle”

About 100 fans apparently smashed windows at the offices of the Argentine FA in Buenos Aires after it was announced that the scheduled kick-off to the upcoming Argentine season would be delayed due to financial problems that many clubs currently endure. This is a start reminder that all over the world teams operate out of debt and with huge financial problems. Even in a soccer rich country like Argentina…….
*The Chicago Fire take on Tigres tonite in the Superliga final which could have bearing on their Sunday match here at Robertson. Sunday night fans will receive a bobblehead of Stuart Holden (first 7500).
Sounders FC takes on Barcelona tonite at a sold out Qwest Field. Lionel Messi made it up to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle to do a bit of juggling…….The 22 year old recently was rewarded with a new contract as Barca looks to protect their “interest”. Now I know we are getting the All Star game and that is going to be an exciting “soccer celebration” for Houston but wouldn’t it be nice if this city was rewarded with a Dynamo vs. Barca or Dynamo vs. Real Madrid match? The awareness would be amazing.
Still remains interesting to see certain cities get the high profile matches…Foxboro? ……..
Barca’s hated rivals Real Madrid will finally get their man Xabi Alonso from Liverpool to complete their wish list. Ok Manuel, now it is up to you to put the pieces together.
Manuel Pelligrini the manager that is! Real Madrid will have to do some roster trimming by the end of August. Now that they have the pieces will it be good enough to contend with Barca? What a haul for Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and now Xabi Alonso………Now that is shopping!!!
Sir Alex has spoken and he is clear that Liverpool is not their most immediate challenger for the upcoming EPL season…Chelsea is according to the great one! Manchester United will miss goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar for 8 weeks after surgery on broken finger.
*DC United THANKFULLY got past Firpo at Cuscatlan Stadium last night in San Salvador on penalty kicks in Concacaf Champions League play.
* Top MLS assistants like Paul Mariner and John Spencer have to be being eye-balled by clubs that are looking to make coaching changes…New York? KC?
*Telemundo’s Mun2 will carry the U.S. and Mexico on August 12th in English language
