Kinnear shows class and accountablility

Filed under: Uncategorized — glenndavis @ 1:11 pm

I have interviewed most every coach in MLS but it is rare that you get many to take responsibility publicly for a loss.
Hey, isn’t that what a leader is supposed to do. Doesn’t the buck stop at the top.
No one will ever say that Dynamo manager Dominic Kinnear does not lead by example.
During Monday night’s Dynamo All Access with Glenn Davis , Kinnear was asked about the poor showing in Los Angeles in a 1-0 loss and responded like a man in charge.
“When the team isn’t playing well I am the the first one to stand up and say I take my full share of responsibility how the team played last night,” said Kinnear.
“I felt disappointed walking off the field because I could have done a better job.”

Kinnear and the Dynamo will look to reverse the LA loss Saturday night in Kansas City against the Wizards (KHOU 11.2 at 7:30 pm). Then it is off to play on the east coast mid-week against the Charleston Battery in the Open Cup and cross country to Seattle to take on the Sounders in front of a sell out crowd.

Are you impressed by the coaching integrity of Dominic Kinnear?

  1. The difference between a wise man and a fool is that the wise man learns from his mistakes.

  2. Dom really had no fault in the LA loss; i mean the players showed no heart until the last 5 minutes and by then it was too late to do anything. I just love the fact that the Dynamo are here in Houston because now i get to see Pachuca play live every year here in houston!!!!!!!!! PACHUCA!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the Pachuca outburst…but seriously though the Dynamo need some heart…

  3. Leo, the Dynamo play with more heart all season than any team in MLS, every year under Dom. I can think of only one or two games each year where it just didn’t seem the Dynamo gave the max effort.

Dom admitted that the coverage gap on the short corner that led to the goal was his fault because he set the defense up that way for that corner.

Accountability is something that you see and hear out of all of the Dynamo players, just watch Kinnear in the last few mintues when guys aren’t hustling when trying to kill off a game.

  4. He has a lot of work ahead of him as we will be without Ching, Holden, and Andrew, and maybe Clark through Gold Cup and Ching and Clark through Qualifiers. Maybe we can get another good forward in the next transfer window still.

  5. Tuned into the Canada-Jamaica match and was surprised DeRo wasn’t on the field. Then went to the Gold Cup website and didn’t see his name on the Canada roster. Did I miss his name or why isn’t he playing? Will we see Hainault play this tournament?

  6. There is no better coach in the MLS than Dom Kinnear. Period.
